The press conference is supposed to be on Monday and since this was from two days ago, I'm guessing they mean Monday the 27th. Stay Tuned:

just goes to prove the military has it's share of whackos – being in uniform doesn't mean you can't wear alfoil hats.

So would you then say that any report of UFOs is automatically "whacko" by virtue of, well, the mere fact that it is discussing a UFO sighting?

You are, of course, entitled to that viewpoint, but then…so much for being skeptical.

Maybe it's a case of "our missiles broke but rather than admit that to the Russians we'll say the aliens did it".

Bentwaters is also known as Rendlesham. It's always seemed to me that it was explainable as misperception of a series of normal objects and sounds. See the podcast for details.
As far as I can tell, Holloman started out life as a fictional scenario in a Robert Emenegger documentary, "UFOs: Past, Present, and Future," as a what-if scenario: "what if someday real UFOs were to land at an air force base?" Then the producers tried to claim that this had indeed happened, and that some of the footage that they'd faked up for this segment was real. I haven't researched it much, so if anyone can point me to an authoritative source on the subject I'd love to hear about it.

Of course, the only mention of Holloman in the article is that photo from the photo montage which may not be associated with these "top brass" speaking today…in other words, simply an unrelated "file photo" of a UFO.

Some of you may remember the story of the purported April 24, 1964 landing of a UFO at Holloman AFB in New Mexico. This story was presented as a hypothetical scenario of alien contact in the book "UFOs: Past, Present & Future" as well as in the documentary UFOs: It Has Begun.
If you recall, at around 5:30 am on that day, three UFOs flew into Holloman's airspace and were tracked on radar. One of the saucers appeared to be wobbling and in trouble. This lone saucer landed at Holloman and the aliens disembarked the craft to communicate with the Air Force Base officials!
It is claimed that this landing never really took place and is an urban legend of sorts, based on a training film that new officers were shown when stationed at Holloman. But some say that this training film looked incredibly real! It is alleged that the film was the "real thing" and shown to the officers as a psychological experiment.
Many of those stationed at Holloman remember this "training" film they were shown entitled "What If They Land?" This film depicted this same scenario of a UFO landing at the base and aliens emerging from the craft. The officer who was in charge of ordering all training films and other equipment does not recall ordering the film. He also does not recall of disposing of the film either, which is exactly what happened to it! The original film was reported as "missing" in the 1970s and remains as such to this present day.
A copy of the film was apparently made, because a still image made from a frame of that film was sent to the training officer in charge of the original film. The frame was cut from a very new film…it was not yellowed and the sprockets weren't tattered as they were on the original film when it was last seen. The training officer does verify that the image of the UFO on the frame matches that of the original film.
In February, The Learning Channel used this frame within part of their documentary on the UFO phenomenon. As far as I know, this is the first time it has been seen on any website and identified as a frame of the "missing" Holloman AFB film.

ROFLMAO! A little over-zealous on the trigger there I think, Awaba.
Of course…I am quite aware that a link that has the words Holloman_AFB_UFOs in it would be primarily about Holloman AFB and it's associated UFO flap…which you then repeated above from your link.
I'd hope you'd realize that I would have made that association and thus realized that the article I was referring to was the original one in my first post, the photo in which caused Stephen to bring up the whole Holloman incident in his post.
Why would I make an association between the photo and the "top brass speaking today" in reference to your article and call it simply a "file photo" when there is nothing in your link about the top brass that are speaking today?

The Press Conference can be found here:
http://www.necn.com/09/27/10/Shocking-revelation-Former-Air-Force-per/landing.html?blockID=319245&feedID=4213
FoF could use their truth-telling software on it and would be interesting to see the results regarding the level of credibility it reported.
Edited: Apparently this is only about 18 minutes of the conference. Mentioned in it are Malmstrom and Loring AFBs. Other articles indicate associated incidents at RAF Bentwaters and our own FE Warren AFB here.

From the Washington Post article:
I flipped through the legal pad on which we attendees were asked to write our names. One person from UFO Magazine. Two people from the Epoch Times. Someone from the Kyodo News of Japan.
