Recently, I've begun to take a break from looking at ghosts and whatever that entails and focusing a bit more on other aspects of the paranormal. I've currently been looking at the UFO/Alien phenomenon and trying to separate the truly interesting from the…mondo-bizarro. And…it's been difficult. You start looking at one or two things that seem pretty intriguing and then suddenly, the next link is a bunch of crazy.
Sometimes, it happens in the very same article or website. For example, I present to you…"The Extra Campaign" :
http://www.extracampaign.org/
It's a Denver ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission. Well…ok. If people believe that there is life in the universe, which mathematically, you've got some decent odds, and if people believe that UFO's are real and are coming here, having some governmental protocol in place isn't such a bad idea.
So let's look at some of the bullet points:
"NASA removes images of UFO's from its photos and videos before releasing them to the public even while "looking" for signs of extraterrestrial intelligent life, in order to keep getting over $15 billion a year in funding. [That means NASA has defrauded Denver taxpayers for tens of millions of dollars and Colorado taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.]"
Now, accusing NASA of fraud is pretty strong. You're going to need a boat-load of evidence to support that. Yet, even beyond the accusation…is the premise, which I believe to be utterly incorrect. The premise is that NASA is deliberately keeping UFO images from the public so they can "look" for signs of ET's themselves and keep their funding. First, no. NASA's main objective isn't looking for life. It is to study and understand the nature of the universe. That does include life, but it is not the main and only focus.
Doesn't it stand to reason that NASA would only benefit from UFO's and aliens? We get our hands on some undeniable proof…an actual space ship or an alien…trust me, that $15 billion a year will be a drop in the bucket as compared to what their new budget would look like. The US would want every possible fact about where the ship came from, how, when, if more are coming, etc. That puts NASA in the driver's seat. They would become the focal point.
" The U.S. Government has covered up information on UFO/ET phenomena for at least 60 years as confirmed by government documents."
Nothing new here. Fine. I can't prove or disprove cover-up's or what any government document says. There are a few other points, but we're going to skip on down to the last two…
"Up to fifty-seven species of Extraterrestrial beings, that have visited Earth, have already been categorized and they are all humanoid. At least 4,000 landings of Extraterrestrial vehicles have left traces on Earth."
And now we get to the crazy. Fifty-seven species? I don't need fifty-seven. Show me one. Four thousand landings of extraterrestrial vehicles? I don't need four thousand. Show me one.
This is a perfect example of something starting off fine…and then drifting into the mondo-bizarro. Fifty-seven species of extraterrestrial beings. Please…
And for more fun, go further down the website until you hit the "Metatron Cosmic Peace Program." Which apparently "acts like a two-way mirror to support peace and harmony between human beings on Earth and intelligent beings not on Earth." How the program works exactly…um, no clue. As for the "intelligent beings not on Earth"…unless they're talking about the people on the Space Station, I'm uncertain of which one of the fifty-seven species of aliens that they're talking about.
So…I'm trying to look at this UFO/alien thing objectively…but they're making it so incredibly hard to do so…

We can't get along with other Earthlings, what makes them think we can get along with 57 species of Aliens? (some of which undoubtedly want to eat us.)

Revenant, please let us know if they get the required 4,000 votes. Will you reveal your vote?
I'm with blinddog and Mary, 57 species and we can't get along with the Earthlings that are here now.
I did love the following quote though. It's almost like you could exchange NASA for TAPS/GH. Wonder if some of these "over 500 whistleblowers* who worked on top secret U.S. government projects" or one of the 20 who supplied comments from which this quote was taken, are the ones doing work for TAPS on the new and improved equipment?

Blinddog, I haven't heard that song in such a long time. You are really making me feel old but thanks anyway. It's been a long, long day.
Edit: Revenant: Oh boy, check out this news story. Perphaps it was a UFO this pilot saw in Texas since they couldn't find any other explanation. Now this is very scary. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,524539,00.html

Specialist Sergeant Clifford Stone (ret.) spent twenty two years serving in the U.S. Army (1969-1990) where he claims he was covertly assigned to elite UFO crash retrieval teams known as projects Moon Dust and Blue Fly. Sergeant Stone testifies that he was recruited for this covert service upon his enlistment into the U.S. Army and secretly served for 22 years without his immediate commanders, military colleagues and family knowing about this.

Puhlezze.
Clifford Stone said "I know it is true, because I lived it."
Sound familiar?

He was the one that named the 57 species, just because he says so we can take to the bank! You wouldn't believe the stories I read, that started off "It is true because Sgt. Stone . . ."

Blinddog, Here's a link to the Paradigm Research Group portal. It's so overwhelming I don't know where to start. but any website that thanks John Podesta and Jimmy Carter (sorry), scares the heck out of me. Check out the press releases! There's just so much, you have to see it yourself as I don't know what to say about it.

Hey!, that Stephen Basset guy looks like one of those guys out in LA a few years ago.
The ones with the white tennis shoes.
He looks kinda' ill and sickly, he might not make it to April 2010.
But just in case the aliens do land, I'm going on a diet.
I'm going to shrink down and look like that alien pug in MIB.
You know that movie was made to prepare us for the coming alien invasion.
You know that…right?
I know it's true because I saw it on the Internet.
Some of these people on these sites make Bill on UFO Hunters look like a Zen Buddhist. Whew!

Ok…wow. Ten links to look over.
So here's my favorite quote from the first link that Alicat provided:
"UFO proponents tend to dismiss official responses from members of NASA, the Pentagon or any other government agency, but Runco says that even if there was an active cover-up, no amount of coercion could prevent an astronaut — himself included — from laying claim to a confirmed sighting of an alien spaceship.
"If I thought it was an intelligent craft, I'd be the first one to speak up," says Runco. "I'd want the credit: 'Mario Runco was the first person in history to conclusively document the existence of an extraterrestrial civilization.' Why would I ever want to keep it secret?"
I never really considered this about astronauts, but it does makes sense. Being the first person in history to do anything would be very appealing to them, given the personality traits that one must have in order to become an astronaut.
Alicat, your second link is the same as the first. But the third link, I followed it to the same story covered by the Washington Times. I am uncertain of what to make of ex-astronaut Edgar Mitchell. Here's a quote from that piece:
"Asked why there still is no definitive proof, he said: "We have that, it's just that it's been covered up and denied by the powers that be in our own government," adding that "there's a secret government" that may be run by the "military-industrial complex."
I read that paragraph a couple of times just to make sure that I was reading it correctly. A 79 year old ex-astronaut is claiming that UFO's are being covered up by a secret government that may be run by the military-industrial complex. Now don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for the astronauts and those in the training program. I've actually had the privilege of meeting one while living in Houston. They are awfully smart people. Yet, I am deeply puzzled by Mitchell's statement.
Do I want to take him at his word? As an astronaut, I do. And please…I know all about Lisa Nowak. Let's not drudge up all of that. I consider the astronauts, past and present, to be some of the best that America has to offer. But what Mitchell is proposing, without a shred of evidence, is…concerning. Perhaps his health is an issue at this point? I just don't understand what he's doing and what he's talking about.
I mean if you want to discuss the possibility of life in the universe…cool, no problems with that. Want to consider that UFO's (alien ships) are real and they are visiting us….well, ok. I'll listen but you're starting to lose me a bit. Want to discuss the UFO cover-up by the secret government led by the military-industrial complex…we pretty much have to stop right there. We've now drifted from the intellectually interesting into conspiracy theory (or…a bunch of crazy). Why Mitchell has come out and said what he has said is just puzzling to me. I still don't know what to make of it…
And Hannah…your link to the 57 species…very nice. It is…quite impressive to see that we are soooo not alone…

So the US government has supposedly covered up the existence of UFOs for over fifty years. Is this the SAME US government that just posted a list of all US nuclear sites on the internet for everyone to see?

Interesting article, blinddog. I have always been curious about the fact that these aliens are so smart and advanced that they can travel vast distances, abduct humans and do 'experiements' on them, dart around the galaxy faster than the speed of light… yet somehow manage to frequently crash their ships once they arrive over planet Earth.

Mary, did you happen to click on the 'UFO COVER UP' at the bottom of the page?
All kinds of conspiracy stuff there.
As far as the numerous(alleged)ufo crashes, well, I guess the best context would be to think of the universe as being intertwined with a galactic interstate system.
Along this stellar freeway, several light years a part of course, are rest areas(Earth would be one of these).
And like what happens on our own terrestrial highway system, sometimes they just misjudge the off-ramp.
Sounds as good as some I've read.
