Hello, guys.
I have been more of a lurker up until now but I searched this forum for this and couldn't find it, so I couldn't resist making this contribution.
I live in Brazil and there has been much hype in here recently about an ET called Bilu (a ridiculous name, I know). A guy named Urandir came forth and revealed that this ET was inhabitting his lands in the middle of the woods. He said that Bilu wanted to share his wisdom with the world.
Urandir basically offers his lands for people to live there, and stock food and supplies for the next big catastrophe. Many people live in there and this land has become somewhat mystic to his followers.
So, believers can actually go there and spend a few days getting to know this place (called "project portal") and Urandir organizes hikes so people can go into the woods in the middle of the night (of course…). After hiking for a few hours, this ET named Bilu appears from behind the bushes and starts talking to them.
When the media got a hold of that, everyone thought it was hilarious, and even other Ufologists in Brazil said Urandir was mad. This ET was clearly some guy poorly disguised and making a different and ridiculous voice.
To know more about this delusion, I invite you to watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..r_embedded
And recently, Bilu came with a new message to mankind, and said that this would revolutionize all knowledge the science had about this world. Ignoring all common sense, he actually suggested the good old 'flat earth' theory. But gave it a new spin. Earth is actually convex.
Please watch this but be careful…this video actually attempts to make you dumber lol. It is actually kinda funny to see the 'experts' they interviewed (subtitles available if you click the CC button):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..r_embedded
I hope this was a good contibution to keep you guys talking and I will definitely keep an eye on the web site http://biluoetbrasileiro.com.br/ where they will keep the other world-changing revelations to come!
Cheers!

The Earth convex shape? Nay, rather...
BEDEMIR: And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped.
ARTHUR: This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedemir. Explain again how
sheeps' bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
BEDEMIR: Oh, certainly, sir.........

Hmmm….
Just right off the bat…is it me or does he sound just like this fellow?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..L8IL77gQ3k
And my follow up question…if a being, vastly superior in intellect and technology, appears on Earth…um, why is he hiding in a bush again? Anyway…
I guess I would approach this the same way as I do with all paranormal claims…consider what the evidence is and the circumstances that surround said evidence. Next, consider alternate options and try to relate it to what can actually be proven to be true. And like always…I look very hard at the implications of what is being issued and who, if any, benefit from positive results. Oh…and poke fun at it along the way (at least I'm honest about that… :P ).
I mean on the one hand, things like the Devil's Toy Box (a six-sided cube with mirrors) and movies like King Kong are relatively harmless. But…on the other hand…not all paranormal pursuits are without sin. How many people are swindled by psychics every year? How many people are terrified to stay in their own homes now because of what they see on these ghost shows on television? How many dollars are donated or spent on cryptozoological whatever while actual living and PROVEN TO EXIST critically endangered animals are on the brink of extinction? And lastly, and perhaps most importantly, maybe it's all fun and games with aliens and UFO's…until some people really start believing…to the point where 39 people commit suicide because of it.
So is the Elmo-sounding guy in the bushes funny? Yeah, sure is. But is it also something to keep a close eye on? Unfortunately…yes. So thanks michelbf for bringing it up. And please keep us informed as to Bilu's "wisdom."
Oh…one last thing…if you contribute to any forums pertaining to Bilu, here's something to consider; get with a mathematician from Brazil and come up with some mathematical problems for Bilu to solve. If Bilu is open to questions and so vastly intelligent, then a few high-end math problems should be no problem for him since math would be a universal language. He should be able to answer them without hesitation. And if he can't…hmmm…that would be curious wouldn't it? (Oh…and don't let him get away with any binary crap. You know…001010100010101…whatever. No time to decode all of that. Just straight answers…)

Course, math is only universal in it's concepts. You still have to translate the numbers which is why binary isn't so bad. If it worked for Pioneer….

Yes, Bigfoot, Nessie, etc. But there are other animals out there that could be "hidden" Ones with a greater likelihood of existence. Unfortunately not as many dollars toward them but there are some. So, one thing I must stress again, though, is that if the animals are so few in number, and there is a reasonable probability that they COULD exist (there's that probability thing again lol) then I think the effort should be made to verify them. You can't help a critically endangered animal that is on the brink of extinction if you don't know that it exists…but, I guess one can always fall back on the "If an animal dies off in the woods and no one knows it existed, does it really matter?" adage.

*sighs* Although this isn't the proper place for our on-going, never-ending, all-consuming battle over cryptozoology (and noticing that nothing was really added about Bilu…), I shall gladly revise my sentence…just to maintain the peace…
*clears his throat and asks again* How many dollars are donated or spent on cryptozoological whatever (as in big scary monsters that can attack people which is what 99.9% of these cryptozoologists drone on about and if not…then where oh where are all their books dedicated strictly to the Island Fox or the Hirola…)while actual living and PROVEN TO EXIST critically endangered animals (which OF COURSE would include new species…and if anyone can provide me with that list of cryptozoological discoveries that would be great and I would gladly support them) are on the brink of extinction (as in can we please, please, please help those animals that need it the most first before they literally leave our planet forever and I promise…I'll leave plenty of time for the arm-chair scholastic debate over what is "hidden"…I like getting the hard work done before play time…)?
There we go. All fixed. I really hoped that helped. And just so there's no hard feelings…I just checked and no hidden animals "died off in the woods" while I wrote this…(How did I know? Hey, if cryptozoologists can make things up, so can I…prove a hidden animal did die…) Alright then…back to everything Bilu in this thread…

What amazes me is why anyone over the age of 8 would take this Bilu character seriously.

I agree completely Learjet!
No, no mention of the Bilu, just responding to something Revanant brought up. My mistake, I didn't realize that big and scary and attacking us was a qualification of being a "hidden" or unknown animal. ah, "they".
And speaking of no mention of things…

If you wish to further debate me on your hidden animals (or aliens or telescope arrays…yeah, so tricky…) then please create another thread in the Cryptozoology forum and do so. Can we please show our new member, michelbf, a bit of respect and not hi-jack his thread about Bilu? I promise…I will respond to your thread and talk about all the hidden nonsense that you want. Just not here. It's not cool and you know that. My first post was in good faith. Your responses have not been. Again…start a new thread in the Crypto forum and I'll be there. Here…can we please just agree to let Bilu have the spotlight?

If you want this thread to be about Bilu, which it should, then post YOUR crusade against cryptozoologists where it should be. And I'll respond there. If you're going to post it here, I'll respond here. Or would you rather I moved that portion elsewhere?
As for good ol' Bilu (lest I be chastised yet again) he's a little behind the times, Vail proposed this over 100 years ago: http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/…..ateart.htm

Well, Revenant, the Elmo video made me laugh so hard.
And it would certainly be interesting to pose him a mathematical problem. He could solve one of those problems that remain unsolved to this day instead of suggesting outdated theories to things we already know!
Unfurtonatelly there's no news as of yet, but I bet they will come up with some GREAT evidence that will change our perception of science….
That or they'll come up with ambiguous "evidence" and claim they can't definitely prove it yet because our perception isn't advanced enough.
