Geeze, posh accommodations and privacy and they don't care for it? I suggest a Motel 6 or a Spalding Inn type place for these pampered celebrities who revel in pranks and a frat boy mentality on the road. I'm guessing a lot of high jinks have been played on these players, especially the rookies and Gomez because he seems to scare so easily. He seems to be the perfect subject for these types of activities.
Hmmm…yes, I'm sure there are plenty of high jinks and a frat boy mentality on the road. However, there may be a bit more to it then just that.
Carlos Gomez is from the Dominican Republic. In fact, many baseball players are from either Central or South America. Their beliefs in ghosts and spirits and such may be a bit stronger than our own here in the US. Many athletes are also very superstitious. Add in the belief in ghosts and what they can do to you…and you've got a pretty jumpy ball player on your hands.
At a past job, as a group we were discussing TV shows and whatever and GH came up. A guy from Ecuador gets up and leaves. He absolutely wanted no part in discussing ghosts or spirits. It was "bad luck" to do so. I'm sure there's many ball players who think and feel the same way.
Wasn't this the case at the…Vinoy (sp?) that GH investigated? A supposedly spooky hotel that ball players would stay at and get freaked out at. Hey, if I'm the home team, I'm trying to get the opposing teams to stay at haunted hotels too. Anything to gain an edge.
