Here begins what I figure may become a long discussion.  For whatever reason, I have had more paranormal experiences than I can possibly count or remember. I know that sounds ridiculous, and  you may already be thinking that this poster must be schizophrenic. Not the case. I appear to be completely sane. I have also had psychological tests done (at about 8 year intervals) just to be absolutely sure I am not making things up, or imagining things, or some other crazy explanation, but the tests have always come out balanced and normal.  So that is that.

There is no way I can sit here and go through all the things I have seen. There are a few instances that stand out for various reasons, so I thought I would pick the paranormal event that was the most verifiable instance in my life. This happened when I was 15. And the best part is that my cousin Todd was with me, and saw the whole thing himself as well. Every couple years I will call him and ask, "Did we really see what we thought we saw?" His answer is always yes, so I could not have imagined it.

Todd and I were visiting my relatives in New Mexico with our families. Lots of people in the adobe house. We were on the Navaho reservation land in the four-corners region, and near Chaco Canyon. Its a very sacred place, and its freaking gorgeous. The rain comes in torents, and the storms are electrifying. And this night, maybe a week or two into our summer long stay, Todd and I had locked ourselves in a room with a huge window to watch a night time lightning storm. We turned off all the lights, sat in the window and talked as we watched the storm in the dark. There was a dead tree about 10 feet from the window in the front of the house. It looked a little odd,  an evergreen that had lost all its needles. It whipped in the wind, constantly swaying, and was light enough that every time lightning hit, this tree lit up white. It was the easiest thing to see, since the next tree was probably a mile away beyond the wild horse pastures out the window. So we just sat there, watching this tree as the sky blinked.

After about two hours, a huge bolt of lightning lit up the dark sky, and we both instantly started screaming from what we saw out the window. We scrambled for the door in the dark trying to get out of the room. Being unfamiliar with the house, we fell over furniture grabbing toward the sliver of light under the door on the far wall screaming the whole way.  Once we got out of that room I honestly can't remember what we told the relatives, who must have heard us. But once we got to our beds, we discussed what we had seen.

Todd said that when the lightning hit, he was looking at the tree, and saw a gallows over the tree that had a rope, and a tall gold robot looking thing was standing by the rope. I then related to him that what I saw was a gallows over the tree with a rope hanging, but by the rope was a short silver robot-looking being standing there. We mutually suspected that there must be some other structure out front by the window that looks kinda like these things we saw, and we would check in the morning.

So the next day, we went out front to find that tree we had watched for two hours or so.

No tree. No stump. Nothing. There was no tree at all. Baffled, I went to my uncle and asked him if he had chopped down the dead pine tree from the front lawn. He laughed at me. "There's never been a tree there," he said.  There was nothing in the front lawn at all, it was completely clear. No fences, no light posts, no nothing — and this is in rural New Mexico… there was nothing standing anywhere for miles.

So what the hell was that? I have no freaking clue. A ghost tree? A hallucination for 2 straight hours? The gallows part didn't even matter anymore, we had been watching that dead tree half the night. There was no question IT was there. This is the kind of thing that makes you think you are just crazy. But we both saw it.

So that's one experience.

Hi Kira,

Welcome to the site, and thanks for your post. I'd suggest narrowing your focus to your top three or so most interesting incidents and start new threads for them one at a time. Which appears to be what you're doing, so good. :)

Since you mentioned that you have mental tests every eight years, could you provide a little more detail? What kind of tests are these, and who evaluates them? I have no reason to doubt your sanity, just curious since you brought it up.

If such a thing had happened to me, I think I might try asking my relatives for photographs of the house and its surroundings around the time of your visit, if they had any. Were there any trees at all near the house?

Aside from investigation tips, I wasn't there, so I don't know. I hope you enjoy the site.

Hello again Kira,

Thanks for posting in this in the forum.  Interesting reading especially after reading your comments and the subsquent discussions in the GH Halloween 2009 Special.  Here's one from November 4 (although there were other prior to and after) which brought you to the forum.

Kira @ 11:03 am

I have has/seen paranormal things all my life, including seeing "ghosts", getting messages from spirits, having documented dreams of the future that came true (I was part of a dream study), I have seen aparitions that friends also saw, and I have even watched a UFO (with my entire family and some friends) that stuck around for 45 minutes! Both my mother AND my father were mediums when I was young, and they were part of some Edgar Cayce school in the 70's. I have lived in two houses that I will not hesitate to call "haunted". (I have moved 17 tmes.) I tell fortunes for a living. All this, and yet I am very VERY skeptical about what people term "paranormal". And when these things happen you DO tend to wonder whether you just saw what you think you saw, or if you are just imagining things. It can be very confusing for a long time. It takes a while to sort thse experiences.

And then this comment in the GA March 18 recent comments section on November 7:

Kira @ 7:16 pm

I am in love with Zak. I must confess. The more I see him chasing invisible ghosties in those adorable artsy black clothes, the more I cannot resist his awesomeness. Seriously, he is now my pretend boyfriend. Mrs. Zak Awesomeness — thats me! And those other two can live with us too. They can do the dishes. I LOVE YOU ZAKKKKK!!!

You can understand my skepticism, can't you?

Thanks Kira. You say you've had hundreds of experiences. Have you ever managed to document any of these, say, photographically? If that many were happening to me, I'd be carrying a camera 24/7…if you have taken any photos, can you please share?

Interesting forum topic.

I'm with Nosfer, Kira- would love to see/hear about any documentation you have done of some of  the many paranormal experiences you've had so it might be discussed here or in other threads.

As I mentioned a while back in some other SV forum thread, I thought I was having pretty intense paranormal experiences from childhood on until one psychologist I consulted explained to me the symptoms of hypnagogia.  A hypnagogic state produces intensely realistic illusions of all sorts & can happen even during the daytime when a person thinks he or she is wide awake.  I've had a few that were fatigue-induced, others that happened during brief daydream-type moments, as well as those I've experienced at night.  It is a possible explanation you might look into before discarding it out of hand.

RE: your experience with your cousin & the "haunted" tree- without any evidence of any sort to back that one up, it seems like a great ghost story that basically boils down to two kids on a dark & stormy night in unfamiliar surroundings scaring each other silly. JMO.

Hmmm -

A  " tall gold robot looking thing " and " a short silver robot-looking being " ?

Just why do these images seem so very familiar ?

I don't remember for sure, after all, that was all a long time ago. And I don't even think it was around here.

Oh, hell.  Now I've got some John Williams' theme stuck in my head.  Have turned on the radio to flush it out.

Hate it when that happens.

Hmm hypnagogic hallucination… It's not really a typical scenario as described in this story. HH usually occur near sleep, when fatigued from lack of sleep, have durations in the minutes rather than hours, tends to change or morph and as far as I know the unique imagery is only experienced by one person.

This is a long shot Kira but do you remember what else was in that room opposite the window? Paintings, photos or artwork of any kind? Any pot plants? Wallpaper?

You may be able to guess where I'm going with this. Glass is not 100% transparent. There is a significant amount of reflectivity that under the right lightning conditions can deceive the mind into thinking that something is on the other side of the glass when it's actually behind or to the side of you.

Hey man, dude, this grass is real, cough, groovy. Innocent

Must be a geographical linguistic anomaly. In Australia, plants in pots are pot plants. So you refer to them as "potted plants" over there?

You don't even want to know what thongs are. Tongue out
