Hopelessly Locked In A "Fear Cage"

Lead Investigator

While awaiting the start of the MSU/U.Conn game, I was bouncing around channels.  Once again, I fell upon PS.  It's like a gruesome car wreck.  You don't want to look, but you not only end up looking, you stare at it.

I'm not going to bother describing the show.  No point really.  But I did find a couple of odd things when poking around about it online.  Here's the website for the hotel:

http://knickerbockerlinesville.com/index.html

Notice anything odd about it?  Like…I don't know…the prices of rooms.  Do they have room service?  Do they have any rooms at all?

It's like Paranormal Junction.  I couldn't see any prices on rooms on the front page, but I could easily find their "Action Cams."  That's right!  You can hunt for ghosts from the comforts of your own computer.  Sweet.  And about room service?  No clue.  But there's some great links for psychics…

If you click on their "Investigations" link (I couldn't find similar links when looking at Holiday Inn's website…), you'll see a small blurb about PS.  The interesting part is that it states "For reasons that are unclear all traces of episode 19 have been removed from the Internet."  Be thankful for small wonders…

Lastly, here's a picture that the lady who owns the hotel took:

http://knickerbockerlinesville.com/investigations/knick/ev-pages/pegs-mist-light.html

It's a picture of "ectoplasmic mist."  Let me say that again.  It's a picture of "ectoplasmic mist."  Yep…still funny the second time.  Man, if only I could get a sample of this.  I wouldn't even know which microscope to use first.  Maybe a TEM (Transmission Electron Microscope).  Oooo…maybe a STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope).  I'd be like a kid in a candy store with a sample of ectoplasmic mist.  Well, you know…if it actually existed.  Who knows?  Maybe it does.  I should start staying at these "haunted" hotels more often…if I can only find out if they actually have rooms…

Anyway, the actual point of this post is to draw attention to another show, Ghost Hunters.  Alicat, amongst others, have shown very strong finacial motives behind where the GH team is going this season.  Although "investigated" by another show, it does show a "pure profit motive" to feature places where people can go and spend money such as hotels, inn's, museums, and places that give tours.  Essentially everywhere that GH has gone this season.  Perhaps GH should move over to the Travel Channel now…

The Knickerbocker mist looks a lot like cigarette smoke to me. Wink

What strikes me is the eagerness shown by the clients in these and like establishments when GH sits down for the reveal.  I swear, some are almost foaming at the mouth.  They know that if GH says the place is haunted, there's a good chance business will pick up.

We are seeing on occasion the return to investigating homes, and I truly believe this has been a response to the many accusations of viewers across the internet of GH going to establishments that have a vested interest in being labeled as haunted because TAPS says so.

I'm also sure that places like the Stanley Hotel are forever indebted to GH for "confirming" their hotel is haunted, thus drawing in afficionadoes of the paranormal.  Even the battleships have probably seen an increase in visitors.

I still chuckle when I think about that place (can't remember its name) that was already rigged up with Haunted House type effects.  The question still remains if TAPS knew about this ahead of time or if they were left unaware and it was the client's hope that some of the spooky stuff would have been labeled as proof of a haunting.

This has really become a circus.

If 50 million people believe a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing.

I don't think that's a real hotel! Half tempted to call them up as a regular traveler and see if they even have any rooms!

There is a hotel north of here, a rather famous one, by some standards, that has a picture on the wall purporting to be the ghost that inhabits the place. Oh did I get evil looks when I said it had all the markings of cigarette smoke! Probably shouldn't have said it during the tour LOL

Did the PRS team know or mention that other paranormal groups had also investigated the Knickerbocker?

Oil Region Paranormal Team: Some of the pictures of black masses are intriging. http://orpit.org/id26.html

Keystone Paranormal: They seemed to have done a good job getting historical records of the site and concluded there was no definitive proof. http://www.keystoneparanormal.com/Knicker.htm

Baelfire Paranormal Investigations – they also do Dead Time. http://www.angelfire.com/scary/bpi/knickerbocker.htm)  "During “Dead Time” activities, Rick reports that a lot of entities wished to communicate through Channeling, rather than EVP recording, especially on the 3rd floor."  Darn, how do you get evidence then?

On their calendar for April they have several events:

Supernatural Sleuths

When:Wed, April 8, 11:30pm – Thu, April 9, 12:30am
WhereThe Knickerbocker Hotel (map)

We are open and available for meetings and private group parties such as book clubs, planning committees, card parties, baby showers, private birthday parties and the such. You know, the mere fact that four? groups have come to this place kinda says that none of them must have helped the place out (well, other than financially)!
