Watched the one about the Lady Vampire last night and was really interested in the method of connecting whereby the "director" strapped something onto his head that was described as something that generated EMF fields. If our other friends call this a fear cage and it is shown that exposure to EMF can cause paranoia, hallucination, nausea etc, why in blazes would this be used. Funny how Ryan? experienced all three of the aforementioned symptoms but considered it a success and that he had somehow come to understand things as a result or something like that.

I saw it too and was asking myself the same thing. I sort of reminded me of Napolean Dynamite when Uncle Rico strapped the "Time Machine" to his head.

Hee hee hee! "Get her!" That was your whole plan, huh, "get her." Very scientific.

Dr. – why does it seem so fitting to have a Napolean Dynamite reference regarding some of our ghost hunting heroes?
Everyone knows the proper way to summon a ghost is to wear a crystal that was once owned by a dead person strapped to your head and connected to an EMF-K-11, white noise generator …

Don't forget strapping a women's bra to your head; ala Weird Science.

Too funny. I forgot all about Weird Science. Very appropriate.

Although exposure to high EMFs can cause all of those symptoms, there are some who believe that it is the EMFs that make it possible to 'experience' ghosts. It has to do with how the EMFs affect the mind, and how the mind can then 'see' things that are not normally visible without the high EMF manipulation. I have seen a few programs on tv about this, but will try to find a link or two that explains it better.
Personally, I believe that, yes, EMFs can have an affect on the mind, but those hallucinations or voices that are caused by them are not ghosts! Ryan is an a…..nevermind.

Here's one to start with. But there have been other studies where the test subjects have worn similar head gear to what Ryan put on in this show.

I don't often watch PS (too much bottled rage from Penn State constantly beating my alma mater at football). I assume that this was some variation on Persinger's God Helmet.
Persinger's a brilliant guy, and the God Helmet effect is probably real. People tend to overgeneralize his research, though. It's not the amount of EMF radiation that appears to produce the effect; it's the pattern of it.
I'm pretty skeptical of EMF sensitivity claims. I wrote an article about it here.

Thanks Stephen. I had started to read your article once before, but (for whatever reason) forgot about it. I will now go back and read the whole thing (promise). And the links as well.
Yes, this thing that Ryan was using seemed very similar to that (Persinger's). If I'm remembering correctly, after wearing it Ryan puked in the toilet!?! Of course that could have been faked ,tooo.
The thing that really gets me about his use of this EMF device is that he doesn't really explain it. He claims that it helped him, but how?? Melodramatic BS if you ask me.
