Savannah is in contact with a spirit called Emily.

She could be a medium.

"Now, I want to show Savannah the picture of the murdered girl we found in San Antonio"

Duh! They just show her one photo???!!! Not ask her to pick it from a selection of photos? How scientific!

Agree wholeheartedly! But "scientific" can hardly be applied to PS at all. Bring out the holy water and dousing rods…aren't they scientific as well????

I would say more but I'm new here and a bit shy.Undecided

Oubliette, I agree, they do infuse a religious influence on the show, more so than TAPS. Any scientific pretense is missing from PS. But I believe TAPS does pretty similar things, just with more bombastic language.

Let's look at some of the infamous theories TAPS operates with, ostensibly held as scientific fact; I mean they'll SAY its a theory, but treat it as factual evidence:

1. There's a theory Limestone helps focus spiritual energy

2. There's a theory granite helps focus spiritual energy

3. There's a theory quartz helps focus spiritual energy

4. There's a theory that ghosts manifest as cold spots as they draw the energy out of the air

5. There's a theory that ghosts manifest as hot spots filled with energy

6. There's a theory that ghosts operate as a residual haunting

7. There's a theory that ghosts operate in intelligent hauntings as well

8. There's a theory you shouldn't play with Ouiji boards as they open a pathway for greater evil things (manson episode….ugh.).

9. There's a theory that the barometric temp will drop just before a ghost attacks (thanks Barry…).

And all of this can conveniently be caught on equipment you and I can buy from circut city, office depot, or any hardware store; although clearly the guys at Samsung, Sanyo, and other companies are geniuses for having devised such devices with multiple purposes!

This is not to say those theories are incorrect. It's just that in no way are these theories truly scientifically verifiable at this time.

Looking back on what I wrote, this comes off a LOT more cynical than I intended. As I've discussed in another post, I actually strongly believe in supernatural entities. Whether I believe all the above theories and "ghost decting" methods used…that's another story. As far as PS is concerned, they're just more overt about their religious motives.

D – have to agree with you. TAPS has some weirdo explanations for stuff too. Was it on their radio show (which I listened to only twice) or during an episode where they claimed that ghosts can't lift more then 10 lbs! Where did they get that BS???

PS is so overtly religious it could have been produced by the Catholic Church, except that the priest they had on in one episode is supposedly an outcast or something–and I could certainly see why.

I've lost all faith (no pun intended) in GH, but at least other then for that Keith person they downplay throwing around the holy oil, blessing everything in the house and last but not least, claiming there's a demon named Belial whose name must not be spoken. Wink

And let's not forget the weepy Chris Coffey. I don't think GH ever had anyone on with them who was quite such a character. Chris Fleming came somewhat close but nobody can beat Coffey when it comes to pure, almost childish silliness.

I can't believe this show is so popular and that A & E might go a full hour per episode with it. This really sinks any hope of anyone in the scientific community taking study of the paranormal seriously, which is a downright shame. After watching PS, I would laugh it all off myself. No wonder the university has emphatically stated that they have no ties to the show and do not endorse it in any way.

Those theories are not only incorrect, they are ridiculously incorrect.

In fact, most scientists would argue that based on the evidence ghosts is not even a good hypothesis. In other words, the probability that ghosts exists is quite low, based on the current scientific evidence. From a scientific perspective, “Ghosts" has not made it past the hypothesis stage
