I was searching for something else regarding PS and came across this blog. Take a look at what this guy has to say about PS and the comments that follow. This guy is very brazen about his animosity for PS. http://actionskeptics.blogspot.com/2007/12/action-review-paranormal-state.html

It's always refreshing to read an unbiased review and commentaries.
But I do have agree with him.

Hmmm…I'm somewhat unclear. So…he doesn't like the show?
And he's spot on about Dane Cook too. Hate that guy…

I love it when people speak their mind. No beating around the bush there. I guess the show just brings out the best in people.

Rev,
I, like yourself, feel the same way about Dane Cook.
Can't stand the sight of him.
However, I was put off a little with his reference to Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Ed Wood was one the great directors of the past century, a master of the celluloid.
Though much maligned by his peers, his true talent is for the future generations of film goers.
Not appreciated in his time, much like the artist Pollaiuolo of the 15th century.

Not one of the most elegant arguments I have heard, but straightforward.

My favorite quote: "Let me be completely candid: Douchebag and his buddies make Mario and Luigi from "Ghost Hunters" look like Neils Bohr and Alan Turing."
Now I won't be able to stop thinking of a ghost hunting show with Neils Bohr and Alan Turing.

Look at Blinddog kickin' out the Pollaiuolo reference! Nice! Obviously channeling your inner-Dennis Miller there. And I'm assuming Antonio as opposed to his brother, Piero?
And you're absolute right about "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and Ed Wood. I did tilt my head when I read that in the article, but…I can see it. Some people hate that film. Not comparing films, but "Spinal Tap" is the same way. Either you love it or you hate it. There seems to be no in between category.

PS is a one trick pony.
Find a family with horrible tragedy, mental health issues, dark masses, etc.. .bring in Chipper to clutch his head and moan about demons and occasionally drop the "F bomb" which he feels the producers just love. Cue Ryan to go to church and prepare himself to be a "warrior", have Katrina look slightly interested and read someone else's half-baked research. Have Elfie make some vague remark about paganism.
Have Ryan put ping-pong balls on his eyes and shoot EMF through his brain; Chip gets to carry on some more making dire predictions of gloom and doom. Bless the house, exorcise a demon or two, then leave.
Was looking through some YouTube last night and found an interview with Chip at the Waverly and he told about a water poltergeist following him home after an investigation. He realized it when a couple of hours later, his water heater sprung a leak and flooded the 1st floor of his home. Fortunately for him, his plumber believed in the paranormal and was able to tell the water poltergeist, who was the same race as the plumber, African American, to go away because Chip was a good guy. That raised a question for me: If Chip a medium, psychic and empath, wouldn't he have known it followed him home in the first place?
After watching that I could not bring myself to listen to an interview with Ryan. He always looks as though his laxative didn't work.

And you're absolute right about "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and Ed Wood.
And you realize, that they can't leave well enough alone and are making a sequel to that one. "Plan 10 From Outer Space"
Darn that Lucas!!!!!

Ironically enough when I was looking for skeptic sites I came across this one before I found this site. I'll admit they have taken a drunken frat guy approach to skepticism but I can't argue with the basic point. I also remember the episode in question. That poor little boy did seem to be some what off.
My problem with that site was that everyone there were just as closed minded non-believers as the zealots on the PS and GH sites that "Want to Believe." (Sorry I watched way to much X-Files throughout high school and college ) A true skeptic is like a scientist that takes every situation, analyzes it and then decides what really happened.

That guy over at Action Skeptics is pretty hostile about everything. He's a bit scary, actually. A "pathological loner"? Um… okay.
But what I really wanted to comment on was this …. he told about a water poltergeist following him home after an investigation. He realized it when a couple of hours later, his water heater sprung a leak and flooded the 1st floor of his home
OMG!!! I've had TWO water heaters spring leaks on me over the years, and flood the basement floor! Quick! Get me some Holy Water to bless my basement…. oh, wait. I mopped it all up and dumped it down the drain. My bad.

Lucas just can't leave well enough alone, can he? One sad thing about Ed Wood is that if he had only lived another 2 years or so, he would have finally found the fame he had so desperately been seeking. His films are wonderful cult classics. (BTW, if you ever get a chance to meet Conrad Brooks, it's quite the experience).
But as far as this article is concerned, do you think the guy doesn't like PS? No holds barred on this one.

Frankly I loved that blog, I got a belly laugh from it. I can't stomach PS either, it's pure drivel, and probably doing more damage to the field of parnormal research than any cynic or uber-skeptic ever could.
In fact, why don't they just drop the "paranormal" out of the title and call it "Demon State" – that's what it's all about. The whole show is an evangelical sales promotion from a jesus freak.
I'd love to see someone (competently) rig their own house as a spook house (maybe a magician) and then call the team in, luring them with a phony story, then scare the living crud out of them that night. That'd be awesome.. Then in the morning, reveal how it was done and how gullible they are.
I'd love to see that on TV!! Kind of like "Scare Tactics" but directed at ghost hunters. It'd separate the wheat from the chaff for one thing – those that debunked it would prove they're better, less biased teams that could maintain some rationality.
Hopefully, Heather has left the show already and moved on to better things. She is seriously cute – the only thing worth paying attention to!

Forget rigging, I'd for once like to see them come across something legit. I think it would be very obvious to the viewers! I mean, on GA, Zak and the cat gives us a pretty good idea of how he reacts to something beyond his control!

I hope you're serious because I'm going to agree with you. He's the American Dream personified. A man with little talent and no money but great dreams. And he did, as someone once said, produce movies from Hollywood, CA….
Anyway, they're light-years ahead of that crap the Lifetime Channel puts out.
Oh, to get back on topic, yea, PS is pathetic.
