Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and I've been prowling around the forums, trying to find some discussion about the show "Most Haunted."
I used to be an advid fan of the show until the Most Haunted team came to America and traipsed around the town of Gettysburg. I think it was watching that particular episode is what finally clued me in on just how much respect those people have for not only other people's countries and hollowed ground, but also of their own "profession."
I'm not sure how many of you saw that episode, but let me just tell you that it was a disaster from start to finish. The sound quality was awful. What with all the traffic outside, it was no wonder they jumped and screamed at every minor sound! I also "loved" how they got a response from "the other side" every time they asked a question. I have been to Gettysburg at least 100 times in my lifetime, and only ONCE did I ever have a paranormal experience there. Yevette and Co. are there all of 5 minutes and there is rappings and tappings galore!
There were even several times during the live broadcast where they mistakenly said that Gettysburg was a battle of the Revolutionary War, which to me was the biggest insult of all. It just proved to me that no one from their crew bothered to do much research, nor did they seem to care who they seemed to insult with their ignorance, particularly the honored dead who died there.
I know I'm rambling, but I'd really like to get others insights on Feilding and her crew. No one has to tell me these people aren't for real; I'd just love some input!

What does everyone think of Most Haunted?
Honestly I try not to think about them at all! :)

I prefer my televised ghost hunting to at least have the pretense of legitimacy (as in GH and GHI) — although the obvious fakery of MH is in some ways less annoying than the shenanigans and toomfoolery of the latter shows.
I do miss Derick Acorah (sp?) being seized on cue by spirits — hadn't seen such interesting acting since that Paris Hilton reality show went off the air …

Yes, that sums it up pretty nicely actually. Well done, Wes.
I kind of look at MH as a couple arguing in a language other than english. I have no clue what's going on, it's kind of interesting for a while, I laugh a bit then I turn away because ultimately I'm not getting anything out of it and I really don't care all that much.
If they ever did find anything paranormal, I'm afraid no one would ever believe them. You can only cry "wolf" so many times…

I'll say this for MH: they have (or had, haven't been keeping up) an honest-to-gosh skeptical parapsychologist on staff. I mind hoaxing less if there's someone there to catch it, I guess. How O'Keefe caught Acorah is just a wonderful story.

Thanks, Stephen! I never heard the story about how O'Keefe caught Achorah, and I always wondered what happened to him. I know he had 2 of his own shows last year – both of which ran for maybe 3 episodes apiece before they were cancelled. I'd love to know what happened between O'Keefe and Achorah. Also, whatever happened to David Wells?

Thanks everyone! Like I said, I used to love MH, mainly because I love history. But after the Gettysburg fiasco – especially when they couldn't even get their wars correct – I had to question how many other times they gave inaccurate historical information. That article with Ciaran O'Keefe was a real eye opener! Thanks!

MH must have Steve Gonsalves moonlighting as their American researcher.
Underground Railroad anyone?

Try the History Channel show Haunted Histories. . .at least they get most of the history correct.
That is how I ended up on this forum, disappointment with GH. GH has trouble with history also. . .at least get someone to brief them on the historical period, sheesh.
Oh blinddog, you make me laugh, Steve probably was the advisor. Steve: "Be sure and check around the statues, because it is a well known fact that soldiers hid behind them. They would get trapped, and because of the fierce blizzards during the battle, they would freeze to death."

NOT MUCH… especially when they have Derek on the show. I watched the first season, but quickly lost interest.

Better than GH/GHI, perhaps better writers and more skilled actors. At times like a tour of England but at least you get a chance to see sites you would miss on any tour. I wish it was on more often and at a better time.
