Didn't know where to post this.  There have been numerous discussions as to where the newer members of GH and GHI, esp. the women, have come from.  My guess is from somewhere like this.  Any thoughts?

I wish I had the time to do this! I would love to do a paranormal/reality show. I fit all of the requirements…… hmm, maybe I should give it some more thought.  Laughing

Would be nice, wouldn't it?

My point is that this is probably how shows like GH and GHI are IMO getting their new people.  I believe it really started with Kris Williams.  Also, does anybody recall that while that so-called contest for a new ghost hunter (boy, that really fizzled out for the winner, didn't it?) was going on, there was information about a casting agency in Los Angeles taking applications for a new spinoff of a "current reality show on the paranormal". Then, there appeared Shannon Sylvia on GHI–hmm….not to hard to put two and two together.

Expect to see more people who may be more interested in a TV career then in actual ghost investigation.  The supposedly scientific approach is slowing disappearing over the horizon.

I think that most people are in agreement that Kris Williams was not one of their long-time friends. I can't see her playing pool and kicking back a couple beers with J&G.  Reminds me of the Sesame Street song… One of these things is not like the others. One of these things just doesn't belong.  Laughing

It is a lot easier to fake evidence with actors than with real people who are truly interested in the paranormal.

She must have been pretty young when she became a friend of TAPS!

I don't believe it for a minute.  Just like that wrestler was "a friend of Steve's".  Yeah, right.

Around Thanksgiving, my husband and I started talking about how a lot of the things that are said on GH is completely ludicrous. Most of it makes no sense!!! So, we decided that we are going to make a You Tube spoof of the show. We are pretty much done with the script…. we just need some time to tape it. We have 4 kids and we work opposite schedules! Extra time is not in abundance in my house. Hopefully soon we can give you guys a laugh!

Very minor point here.  They re-ran the very first episode of GHI tonight ("Chillingham") and, in light of this thread and Oubliette's and Queen's previous comments, did anyone notice when they sat down to "discuss" the requests from overseas, Jason pronounced his "good friend" Robb's last name incorrectly?  Obviously those meetings are scripted but it just seems to me that Jason throws the words "good friend" around quite a lot and perhaps Robb is as good a friend as Kris and the wrestler friend of Steve's.  As I said, just a very minor point.

Minor but telling.  It's obviously the story they're told to relate.  Why, I don't know.  The "so and so has been a friend of TAPS for xx years" is getting old and patently false.  Heck, Rob is from Florida.  Is he a "good friend"?  Maybe, but not likely.

It shows that some of these people are probably coming out of a casting agency.  Take Brandy and Angela.  My guess is they responded to an ad similar to the one at the beginning of this thread.  As stated, I had heard that is how Shannon Sylvia became a cast member on GHI.  Reading various posts from all over the internet, she seemed to really rub viewers the wrong way.  Plus there was that episode where she had PS investigate her condo.  People were posing the question as to why she didn't ask TAPS.  Hmm….

I digress.  In other words, entertainment value is now more important than experience and/or scientific knowledge.  Which means that I am very suspicious of anyone new coming on either GH or GHI.  When they first started, they probably all were from the New England area and at least were aquaintences.  Now, that's the last thing I would believe.

These shows are really becoming manufactured as opposed to being the real deal.  But apparently, that is what the public likes and responds too.

Can't wait!  I'll bet it's hilarious.  About time somebody got around to spoofing them.  GH is certainly providing plenty of material. ;)
