This encompasses more than just Ghost Hunters so I'm going general with this. Has anyone recorded the Grammar School Ghosts? If so, and you haven't blasted it yet, compare the version you have to the youtube copy. I find on my broadcast version that I'm missing probably a fifth of the width…a tenth from each side. It appears that I'm also missing a similar fraction from the top and bottom. I noticed this during the FoF Caretaker episode as well so I think it's SciFi in general, not just GH. Can anyone confirm this from their setup as well?

Does your decoder have a few different screen format or aspect ratio options? There might be an option there hidden somewhere in the menu to adjust.

Yes, I think there are four different options and I tried them all, it adjusts the aspect but doesn't show any more or less (except for one which actually clips it further)
If you look at the youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4u7ZC61qfs) and go to 1:54…when I look at the exact same scene on my DVR, the Syf is actually on Jasons lower leg and the y is in dark space to the right of his leg. On the youtube, the entire logo is WAY over in the dark. I've captured the right side of my TV screen to show how much I see, the left side is cropped into the frame so ignore the view on the left side.
Youtube clip at 1:54

Mmmm. You appear to have a more standard definition signal stream where the one on youtube is more… HD. The source signal streams are different. This could be decoder differences or your provider may not offer true HD.
By which method do you receive SciFi? Satellite or cable?

I'm cable-based. Not HD here. (or had least I haven't opted into that yet, I think it's available for some channels)

That will be the answer. The youtube video source and decoder would have been HD.

Sadly, my Comcast has F'd up the SyFy HD signal, along with TBS HD, and a few other HD channels…as much as I love HD, I think we may have to downgrade to basic sometime soon.
No sense paying for X HD channels when X-10 are actually being recieved clearly.
