Nosfer,

Thank you for being open minded.

Anyone who has questions, comments or concerns can always address the folks at CPD directly. If someone wants to know something, go to their website, send them an email and inquire. Just a suggestion.

Um…no, I don't know who Reality really is.  But let's look at the options:

a) He is actually a member of the new upcoming show- Cool.  He's more than welcome to post here, even under an assumed name.  We have many questions and thoughts to share about any new paranormal show.  It would be quite extraordinary seeing a member of any paranormal team on TV posting on a skeptical website.

b) He is actually a friend of the cast of the new upcoming show- Cool.  He's more than welcome to post here.  Getting inside info is always fun.

c) He is neither and simply posts info about the new upcoming show- Cool.  He's more than welcome to post here.  His posts have been polite, intelligent, and interesting.  Many of us are intrigued by the premise of the new show and would be interested in hearing more facts about the show and cast.

So…I do not exactly see how he is doing any sort of "trolling."  And perhaps, in the future, you could possibly present evidence that would support your unsubstantiated claim.  Admittedly, not as flashy as the four question marks, but providing evidence is something that we've grown awfully accustomed to on the forums…

Revenant, I completely agree with your reponse re Reality.  She (or he) has been courteous and insightful and I have enjoyed her (his) posts.  And yes it would be phenomenal if someone from a paranormal team would post on this site.  Shall I twitter J&G?   Tongue out

Very interesting comment from someone who has ONE post. So, "TAPS" who is trolling now? :)

Tongue out i think it's great to have someone who knows  these investigators post some inside info and give us another prespective.

As far as them using psychics or mediums, police have used them at times in regards to really tough cases, example Dorothy Allison, who i first heard of on Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack as the host.

I'm sure these guys will do research at the Chicago Public Library  and City Hall of Records.

They might even talk to some older citizens of the area who may have knowledge of the histroy of the place they are investigating.

I think they will bring something different to the show. As police officers, they have been trained to look for clues, get statements from people, etc. Lot different from TAPS.

Haven't seen the show yet, but look forward to it.

Not sure why, but this show popped into my head tonight.  So, I looked at their website and blog and neither one has been updated since January.  Does that strike anyone else as odd?

I mean if you were starting up a new paranormal show, wouldn't you want to develop a nice online presence beforehand?  I know their cops and they're doing their thing, but maybe they can at least "act" excited that they are going to have their own show.

I don't know…no update on the website, no update on the blog, no mention of Twitter, no mention of creating a forum, no…anything.  This isn't a good start.  It's 2009.  Join the computer age.  If they want a solid fan-base, starting now is the way to do it.  The lack of any motivation on their part to communicate to the public just implies a whole lot of bad things…

This is going to lead Nosfer to start singing "The Sounds Of Silence" again… Smile

Given the number of these we've had lately, I think I'm going to need some help in the chorus area! :)

Here's the latest on Paranormal Cops being presented by A & E.

10/09 PR from A&E:  http://www.aetv.com/news/?id=504536

01/09 PR from A&E:  http://www.aetv.com/news/?id=401916

The website:  http://www.chicagoparanormaldetectives.com/indexhome.html

Still no air date.  Last thing I read was airing this fall.  However, they did post a Twitter site and there apparently was an A&E event @ 10/13/09.  Here's the Twitter site:  http://twitter.com/CPDtv  for what it's worth (really nothing IMO).

I just have to say, regarding holmesgirls's posts.  It is very dangerous to post things that haven't been settled in court.  Let the guy have his day in court, if he's guilty, he's guilty and will have to pay his dues.  Even then, on another forum, some guy, in his enthusiasm to be of community service, posted some things about a paranormal investigator.  He gathered this info from a state site, but by posting the info, the guy now has recieved death threats.  This leaves me to wonder if the forum admin might have violated some privacy agreement when reading the info and then reposting it online in his forum, I DON'T condone what the guy did, but I do think the matter could have been dealt with more delicately with communication via e-mail NOT by reposting the stuff on his forum, even if he had good intentions, no one can take death threats lightly.  I just think getting into the personal lives of people, especially before the court has made it's decision is very dangerous.  Now I don't want to get into the death threat issue, those who have seen it know what I mean, and those who haven't seen it, don't really need to get into that whole mess.  I just want to point out how allegations online can be a disservice to the paranormal community.

We can maybe take jabs at Dustin's hair this year, or Grant's latest shenanigans with his camera light, which happened ON tv, but things that happen while not doing official work with their group and especially involving the court system, probably should be left alone.

But I do look forward to any show that will try to take Ghost Hunting to a level that agrees with our wish to be truly skeptical going in and not insult our intelligence by always seeing something around a corner out of camera shot and calling it paranormal.  I was impressed with Ghost Lab at the Catfish Plantation even regretfully not calling the knife moving as irrefutable evidence, despite their enthusiasm of seeing it, at least that was my take, plus no evp's there and only one bad evp at the hotel in Dallas, which they really didn't count and didn't count the "Smiley" magnetic door lock incident as truly paranormal, but very interesting.  I know this should be in their topic, but was just using it as an example of how they differ from GH and GA, hardly coming out with any evidence so far, except maybe their "shadow figure" in Tombstone at Boot Hill as one..I've been busy lately and not able to comment much as well as not feeling too hot, so forgive this slight mispost regarding GL, but I did have to speak out on the rumor mill stuff.  Don't you think?

Edit: Whoops, I forgot about the moving sliding door…darn..
