Was minding my business channel surfing last night when I came upon this "A Haunting" type of show. I knew it wasn't "A Haunting because I had not too long flipped past Roseanne on Nick at Nite (Nick at Nite is Channel 47 for me and DSC is 52) anywho…I was watching it and it was interesting, it made me stop flipping channels Smile. It went to commercial and I discovered I was on Animal Planet and watching something called "The Haunted" Yes, you read that right. I realized It was the same format as "A Haunting" but "The Haunted" focuses (on what else) animals haunting a residence. Tho "The Haunted" did not have a apperance of Lorraine Warren in them and they featured the local paranormal investigators (if they happened to investigate that particular place).

Here is the site: http://animal.discovery.com/tv/the-haunted/

The site is prety cool. Have the evidence online, so you can review it yourself. I figured I would bring it to you guys attention because ya'll are better at catching the little things than I am. I'm working on how to spot the inconsistancies.

Sorry my writing is not as well-thought out as you regulars (allicat, nosfer, and revenant, to name a few) but I'm just a beginning skeptic, so to speak. Much love, Vicki

Hi nicki_d -

Nice catch finding this.

I think it's going to be rough doing an analysis of this program as they don't give you a lot to go on. At least they warn you up front about recreating scenes.

Can I suggest you start a new topic here in "other shows" with the title

The Haunted ( Animal Planet ) S01E01   ( or S01E02 etc…)

( or whatever episode you had seen – you can find the episode info here -http://animal.discovery.com/tv/the-haunted/about/ )

This will keep things consistant with the other threads and allow people to find it – We can post there as people catch the episode.

From the website it appears these hunters use the " ghost box", the Ovilus, call in psychic mediums, and even the KII makes an appearance.   With links on the website to " is your pet seeing ghosts?" it might actually have some entertainment value.

I did find it interesting that after going through the quiz I was told -

"It's Possible!

Assuming hauntings are real (an unproven theory), it's possible you have unwanted visitors …. "

   -  it is nice that they seem to say the whole idea might be bogus.   Surprisingly they credit a psychic/medium with helping to create the quiz, yet warn you that she might just be blowing smoke.

Thanx Doc.

I'll go back and re-name the posts to make it easier for everyone to find and such.

I do have to admit that the show was a bit creepy as it was like 3 or 4 in the morning when I came across the shows. Someone told me years ago that 3am the door between the us and the other realm where weakest at that hour. Whether I read it in a Anne Rice book or saw it on Tv, it stuck and I tend not to try and provoke it. LOL, I know it seems silly but it stuck, no horror, in the bed with the covers over my head, so if I do notice something that may or may not happen, I can blame it on sleep.

Even tho The Witching Hour (12-1 am) the veil is the thinnest, midnight does not bother me as much as 3 am.

Yes, I notice that also on the site that it seemed more for entertainemtn value and that they say the recreations are "dramatic".

I didn't take the quiz as I only have a betta fish and if Mr. Fish (my 5-yr old named him) is seeing things, I do not want to know. Tongue out

Where did you find these discussions ?  I can find only one mention in some fringe thread called " nightmares explained" ( or something like that )

Hey alicat.

I did a search for it also and could not find anything on this particular show. I saw the posts on The Lost Tapes on animal Planet but did not find anything on The Haunted. Can you direct me to the right place, please?

S01E01A - Lost Souls of the Asylum

Curious that the show and the investigators reports don't seem to be consistant -

Here's the case files from the two PPA investigations -

http://www.theppa.net/Case%20Files_files/Web%20Case%20Files.html

… modified the link so it dosen't screw up the thread :(   It's the business in Lackawanna County, PA with an investigation in 2008 and another in 2009

Neither of them mention anything about the building having been used for animal research.

From the 2nd case file -

"

Mark, Hawk and Bob – while present in the “couch room” on the 3rd floor, Mark made a comment that if anyone was present with them to call Ben, the team dog, out in to the hall way and make him react somehow. Ben stood up, walked out into the hallway and then ran down the main stairwell to the basement where Lauren and Ken were. The timing was unusual as for the fact that Ben is a trained police K9 and never leaves his handler, Hawk, except for this event.

Lauren and Ken – While present in the basement, Lauren asked if there was anyone with them to do something to let them know they were there. Ken then made a statement that they could talk to Ben and within seconds, Ben came running down the stairwell to their location.

"

Why would Mark suggest Casper call Ben " out into the hallway" ?

Curious that Ken, in the basement, would suggest to Casper that he should talk to Ben, who was on the third floor at the time.

Is it possible ( probable ) that Ben was able to hear Ken in the basement say ( call out ) his name and ran to that location ?

Steve, the building owner, says " During Mark's investigation WE saw Ben come flying out from the bottom of the staircase at the basement level and then he , Ya know, took a right and sprinted all the way down the hall towards the animal research facility"

There is no mention in the case file of the client being present during the investigation and again, absolutely no mention of any animal research facility.

I suspect that there is MUCH in the way of "dramatic re-creation" going on in this show.
