I was just over on another site, ghostyblogs.com and saw this

http://ghosttvblogs.com/paranormal-court.html

Makes someone wonder if eventually ALL the cable channels will have a paranormal show.  I have to admit I watch these shows at least once, normally to see how pathetic they are so I will probably watch this one once also.  ***hangs head in shame***   Embarassed

Seriously! What a ridiculous concept!  The people that go on this show are those that would end up on Jerry Springer or Maury for their 15 minutes of fame.  I could probably be the psychic in this show and dole out my verdict.  I would base it on who's nicer to me and then throw in some words of wisdom so maybe they might get a life and tell them this is what their loved one from beyond told me.  Maybe there will be chants of Robert! Robert! Robert! as the two parties duke it out. One can only hope for the entertainment value! Laughing

Did you notice the first response on that page was from someone purporting to be the first family on the show ?  It appears they are not happy with the way the show is being promoted even before it hits the air.   I wonder what they will say when the edited show is finally broadcast ?

To be honest, I stopped my browser at the end of the show description out of annoyance; however, I did go back and read the commentary after your post.  My point was that whether directly or indirectly, people go on TV shows for their 15 minutes of fame, even if it's to be "famous" amongst their social network.  I guarantee you that she told her family and friends that she made it on and when it would air. Now in this woman's case, it sounds like she is familiar with this particular psychic, so I'm sure that her initial motivation was to get this famous psychic to solve her problem. The recognition for it was a bonus.  I have empathy for her in that the way they describe the show does sound more like the format of the shows mentioned in my original comment with a slight "court" twist and not the show she thought she was partaking in, which clearly goes against her beliefs. However, I lose the empathy when she starts to base her disgust on TLC's actions on the semantics of the word "dead".

From a marketing stand point, "Paranormal Court" sounds catchier than "Solutions from beyond", especially with all of these other "court" shows out there. Also, they need to market to a more general audience in their description so they stick to the term that so outraged her, and at the same time, I'm sure they are hoping it turns into a Jerryesque show to gain popularity. Bottom line is, you can't trust TV exects no matter what fodder that they give you. They need to "sell" their product and that's just what they are doing, and unfortunately, she took it personally. It will be interesting to see how they truly treat her story and what her reaction is, after the fact.

Wonder how long it will before the show starts getting its "Sylvia Browne" moments?

Anybody else see the contradiction in these purported "Christian Psychics"? People who believe in the bible and claim to be Christians go by one of the biggest mottos in the bible in which it says "psychics and mediums are an abomination to God and Godly people should not seek the services of these people." So you have your religion stating to avoid these people at all costs yet you claim to be one of these people while also being religious? Go figure!

I don't want to go down the religion path, but I'm curious which chapter/verse says that about psychics and mediums?
