Karla: The link above does not work, but if one simply types it in, it will work. I wish your friend the best of luck. And sure, I did vote for her.
The casting website: All very interesting. Although I've seen many reality shows (or at least parts of them), I've never actually seen a website dealing with the actual casting. I found it difficult to ascertain one's qualifications for the show. Of course, I am not a member so I do not have full access to profiles. Still, it sort of makes it hard for just the "average joe" to go to the site and vote on anything but how the candidates look. For example, of the top 5 vote-getters so far, one is a psychic, the next is a ghost tour owner/paranormal investigator, the third is a psychic medium. Yet, number 4 and 5 don't seem to have any connection to the paranormal that I can see, so, not sure why they've gotten so many votes. Then again…no clue how casting works so maybe this is just normal.
The show itself: I was intrigued by a new show and this is what it says;
Female Paranormal Investigators Wanted
"The producer of MTV's hit docudrama "Laguna Beach" seeks attractive women with expertise/interest in paranormal research for new reality tv show. Our new show will feature the women conducting paranormal research and looking fabulous doing it.
Applicant Requirements:
–Must be between the ages of 18-45
–Must have strong, compelling on-screen persona
–Must love the concept of the show.
–Must have expertise/ interest in paranormal research "
Overall: Hmm…MTV. Their last show was "Fear." The basic premise was taking a bunch of college kids out to a spooky place and scaring them. The theme song was "Voodoo" by Godsmack (decent song). Admittedly, I liked this show. Very entertaining. I believe that somewhere in the forums, it was stated that Jason from GH was linked to the show in some manner before his GH days…maybe a producer or consultant, can't remember.
For this new show, hard to tell really from that description. The "and looking fabulous doing it" raises a couple of red flags, but hey, I'm willing to give any show a fair chance. My hope beyond hope is they plan for a "bit of fluff with pretty girls" but what they get are intelligent, articulate women who set the bar for paranormal investigation. That would be some sweet justice for both the women of the show and us.
