I just turned on Dr. Phil who has a husband and wife as guests talking about making money and job loss.  The husband is working a commission job making @ $284 a month.  At night he's going off to ghost hunt which pays nothing.   (They showed a very short clip of a group of the ghost hunters.)  As the experts told them they were in serious financial crisis and the husband needed spend that time instead looking for a job, the husband justified his ghost hunting because it didn't hurt anyone and they found shadow figures and had a few interesting paranormal things happen.  The wife was upset because here he was wasting his time when he could be working or looking at night for a job and instead he was investing in pots and pans for over $3,000 (financing it all) and trying those work from home jobs he saw on tv to make money which he finally realized were scams.  When they inventoried their posessions, some of what they listed were an XBox, 57" TV, AB Bars, etc., all things bought by people who evidently were addicted to TV sales pitches as they financed all of these items for years.  What is wrong with this picture?  I think this shows the mentality of people who get caught up by TV and explains to some degree why people believe in GH, GHI, GA, PS, etc.

Not surprising. Hardcore believers in the paranormal——for example, people who really believe Grant got his collar tugged by a ghost on live TV last Halloween——inevitably lack critical reasoning skills and common sense. If one really believes something like "Collargate" is real, it's not hard to convince yourself that you can make $10K a month from home in your spare time with your own internet-based business.

@ Wes:  I think we can assume Grant makes more that $248 a month but maybe he's a relation?

@ Harry:  I was feeling sorry for this woman but then I realized she had to know this guy before she married him even before the economy tanked and he had to have been doing this before they got married.  It's a shame, there are so many people hurting in this market but not making the effort is beyond me.  You should have seen all the items he was showing on camera and the list they displayed.  If this was true, and I have no doubt it was, I would be embarassed to admit it myself.  They never really said what he did for a living (sales of some sort based on commission) but only $248 in commission?  Seemed so low.  The debts were absolutely amazing and here he was going off (while his wife went to sleep) and spending his time ghost hunting and then going to a full time job during the day was unbelievable.  I can only say, I think that's why his commission numbers were so low.  How could he go to a full time job and be production after being up all night?  Incredible what people will do.
