Hmmm…I know what you're saying. And thanks for the link by the way, quite handy and informative about the show. But the words that struck me were "these other shows." My hope beyond hope…it that they truly acknowledge these beasts as legends and NOT something real. And that alone, would separate them from every other paranormal show. If I'm understanding this show correctly, they are stating right from the start that these creatures are not real. In fact, the History Channel should have just traded MQ to SyFy for this show. It seems like it would be a better fit. Never understood why MQ was on the History Channel to begin with. And…for a cancelled show…they certainly play it a lot, don't they?
But really, the beauty of the link is in the comments. I was laughing the entire time. Here's my absolute favorite quote from the comment section:
"I want real investigations of current cryptids that could actually exist, not some made up creature from some fantasy game for losers. “Monsterquest” had so many things they could have still done. It’s a shame that such a good, scientific show was scrapped and we get left with half-wit programs like “Beast Legends."
Man…I haven't had a good laugh like that for a while. How one tells a cryptid from a "made up creature"…hmmm…*shakes his head and laughs a bit*…not quite sure. It just so happens that they were showing some MQ on the History Channel this very afternoon. Cryptomundo head guy Loren Coleman had the best quote (and I'm just paraphrasing because I didn't record the show): "In the absence of physical evidence, all you have is history, tradition and eye witness accounts." Hmmm…in my world, that means that you have zero evidence but a pretty story. That's not "evidence" of anything. So, because of this lack of evidence…I guess one could make up a creature (like this). So again…not exactly sure what the difference is between a cryptid and a made-up creature. And I'm a Cryptozoologist! Then again…so is everyone else here, so…you know…big deal…
Oh…and I'm not exactly comfortable calling MQ a "good, scientific" show either. Not comfortable at all…
