For those of you with a high tolerance for pain, History Channel is running a marathon of the Ancient Aliens series for the next several hours. They have some interesting "theories" but the followup and justifications really lacks a certain, a certain, well, a certain something!

"Any civilization that has mastered interstellar space travel would be benevolent to a lesser developed civilization."
Wow. What a sweeping generality that in know way can be proven, nor even logical. I sure hope it's true, though. But, all we have to do is look to our own planet to see that advanced cultures are not necessarily benevolent to lesser developed ones.

Nosfer, you forget your history. The Europeans were extremely benevolent to the various Native American tribes. Pizzaro treated the Incas like his family. Cortes loved the Aztecs as much as he loved his mother-in-law. Dale Gribble drank beer with the rest of the residents of Rainey Street even though he was a mutant clone supersoldier from the 25th century. I just can't believe that an advanced civilization would be hostile to a lesser developed one….
