Thanks for the link Nosfer. It's going to be tough to prove anything is alive even with more oxygen considering the miles of ice. Two key points I found particularlly interesting were:
Life's chances on Europa would also depend on whether tidal friction heats the moon all the way to its rocky core. If the solid core is in fact warm, he said, "then you may have black smokers pouring out heat and chemicals." If not, the dissolved nutrients needed to sustain life would be much more limited.
and
A submersible sent to Europa would also have to be made smaller, lighter, and with better battery life than existing models—while still being able to drill its own way through what may be miles of ice.

Know what I like about press releases like this?
They mean absolutely jack sh*t.
Like we're going to live long enough to worry about oxygen and ice on Europa.
However, the mention of possible fish like citizens did intrigue me.
A little bit of butter, some lemon…

I don't necessarily agree with that…think what it means for the economy. We are already seeing a boost in the stock market now that Van de Kamps is frantically scurrying around building a rocketship! lol

We came, we saw, we ate them?
"There's also the constant radiation from Jupiter's magnetosphere to contend with."
Ooh that's bad – high EMF. The poor fishies there obviously have to contend with nausea, hallucinations, paranoia, scale irritation etc.

'bizarre episodes of diarrhea'. WTH?
Is this akin to the 'Paranormal Poots'?
Scares the cr*p out of me just thinking about it.

I would like to see more research on what exactly constitutes a, 'bizarre episode of diarrhea'.

The FISH-BOL database? I had to double-check to make sure the date on the article wasn't April 1.
