Thanks for the link Nosfer.  Very interesting article.  Certainly sounds like the tank comparison is a good one.  A raptor couldn't even scratch the surface?  Funny thing is when I looked at the picture I couldn't figure out what it reminded me of and then the reference to a bird's beak and turtle shell comparison hit the spot.

I've always been fascinated with dinosaurs and was very interested in one of the links to the right of the article about the claims of researchers that one-third of them probably never existed.

A third seems kind of high, but there's definitely something to that.  It even happens with complete organisms that are still alive and can be studied extensively.  Especially in the sea, where lots of different species have high degrees of sexual dimorphism, or go through planktonic larval stages and metamorphose into completely different adult forms.
