ali, I think that may be Stephan, I sense maybe a little early stage 'AR' going on there.
Nothing that a cooler of bourbon couldn't cure though.

While the others were off on an expedition to find Stephen, when I discovered what they were up to I decided to look for him.  FYI, because of the economy and the somewhat pricey laptops out there, he has been working on an economy portable PC.  Here's a pic I shot while he was testing it out.  And I didn't even need any elephants (or bourbon).  Looks like a promising invention!

Oubliette,

Good job!  Looks like Stephen may have already depleted the bottle before you found him.  Laughing

Okay, I'm thinking we need to regroup here and have an RCS meeting now that the Labor Day holiday is beginning to fade away.  My suggestion is we meet at the San Diego Zoo.  A nice location, beautiful weather and frankly, we need to keep a closer eye on Stephen after our fearless leader let him out of his sights and let him travel to Atlanta only to be heard from 2 or 3 times.

I suggest the San Diego Zoo because we can take a wonderful tour and then go on their version of a "safari" to see the "big animals" we may be dealing with on our expeditions.  Plus, I just want to see the new 4 week old baby Panda which you can view here (many thanks to Revenant for the help on linking).

So, let's pack the coolers, put on the hats and get ready to jump on that unusually large silver bird in the sky.

Bad news on the Renta-Elephants…I couldn't get our deposit back, there was some big stink about some big stink. I explained that they were elephants, after all, but they were very non-understanding. I'm beginning to wonder if Yaks might be a better way to go, especially if we go anywhere with elevation and a snow line.

I recall the elephants being non-too-happy about that and threatening to mutiny to Scipio's Crypto Hunters.

Sorry to hear they wouldn't give the deposit back on the Renta-Elephants… I had a bad feeling from the beginning about it.  Yaks are a good idea.  I think we should also add an Ibex or two.  Revenant thought he had a connection with someone who could provide a few.  Problem is those darn coolers.  We've got to figure out a better way to transport the bourbon.  I'm leaving that to Blinddog though.  He's a pretty clever individual and, since he had to lug my coolers up on those elephants, he has a better perspective on what it takes to accomplish it than I do.  Let's see how it plays out and the cost of the Yaks and Ibex.

What if we do mini-bottles and Chihuahuas?
Know where I can get a deal on some(the dogs, not the mini-bottles).
Just thought I would throw the idea out there.

That would have to be a lot of Chihuahuas!  I'm thinking the RCS wants to search for big animals that the little ones might be in a bit of danger.  If we had gone to New Guinea, and that's not completely out of the question here by my way of thinking, the woolly rats would be bigger although not as noisy which would probably save their little butts.  Plus, who wants to be the one to put coats on all those little dogs BD?????

Let's see, average weight of African elephant, about 5 tons or so, your average chihuahua in the neighborhood of what, 5 pounds? Let's see, we needed 57 elephants, divide by three, carry the four, times the square root of pie, er, pi, that's 114,000 chihuahuas…Ay-Chihuahua! I'm still thinking yaks might be a better alternative!

Very clever Nosfer!  But were they actually African Elephants or Asian Elephants?  Could that be the reason we didn't get our deposit back?  Was the big stink also because we brought back the wrong elephants?  Hmmm… I seem to remember Asian Elephants were on the manifest and, if I remember correctly, didn't they have different ears than the African Elephants in the catalog at Renta-Elephant?  Did you check the bar code on their tusks?    All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't in charge.   It must have been our exalted leader who is keeping suspiciously quiet today.

Ruh-Roh! I definitely remember at one point we were herding African elephants. I do remember the Made in China label when we first got them, though. When you mentioned bar-code, though I just thought that was the access code to get in and retrieve the bourbon from O'Flaherety's so I wasn't paying much attention. Fortunately I think it's a wash because our illustrious leader's check which I used for the deposit ended up bouncing. Serves them right, I think Asian Elephants can handle more of a work load than the African variety so we were really doing them a favor but look at the thanks we get! Oh, maybe that was it, I guess we DID gyp them! Anyway, we definitely need to look into using pack-emus next time!

That might be a good choice, especially if I can talk our ruggedly-handsome leader into taking our trip to New Guinea.  Maybe our contact, Learjet, can set us up with a Renta-Emu facility near his place so we don't have to ship them from the U.S.  Since the check bounced, I don't think the Renta-elephant location (even though they had many other beasts of burden and needed the money) wants us to visit any time soon.

The EMUs would work, but may I suggest that since we have camels one of those might be better suited. The only problem with the camels is that they may drink all your coolers if they get thirsty. This may result in them not being able to walk a straight line so the journey may take a little longer….

ali, it's a rat, BIG, but still a rat.
You're missing the larger picture here.
In New Guinea they eat people(IE. US!). That's bad.
In Kentucky they make bourbon(and lots of it). That's good.

Besides, I don't think that it's really Bigfoot in that picture.
Looks more like Jason in need of a body wax.

Okay BD.  I understand but didn't you get the first draft of my new book "Chilling Tales from the Chased" which is subtitled "I ain't afraid of no cryptid!"?  It could be a lot of fun.  Plus, you've got to know, Learjet has been very hard at work finding transport that will not drink from the coolers.  He may be very disappointed.

I'll go with the majority provided we get to go to San Diego for our meeting instead of HQ.  I hear Revenant's dog finished off the last bottle of bourbon (along a few other assorted things) so we're out of luck there.

That wouldn't be good…on the other hand, the expedition members themselves aren't walking too straight a line either so if we could get the camels wandering in the opposite direction the resultant vector might be a pretty good straight-line to destination. But, then again, where's the fun in that!
