Here's a vid with the CLEAREST EVP's ever recorded (POPS)! Skip ahead to :30 if you don't want to wait for titles to scroll at a kindergarten reading level and speed…
Now… I don't think anyone can argue that THAT is about the most AMAZING, CLEAR EVP EVER!! No QUESTION what THAT spirit is saying, huh?
Seriously, now – here's a better vid (POPS).
I really think this one explains a lot of the supposed "EVP" that are found after-the-fact. This guy was CONVINCED he heard a spirit EVP saying "I've got the kid" when, in fact, it was just his own voice saying "yeah, yeah, yeah"… Amazing how different it sounded on the "voice" recorder as opposed to the vid-cam, huh?!

OK, I'll admit it– you had me worried with that first video. :)

But wait, there's more. Check out the other videos by the same author as the first.

Slightly more seriously, the second EVP illustrates an important point. Many EVPs are just background voices. People generally won't remember every mumble they made while otherwise occupied.

Yup.
Which is why I feel the urge to bash my head into a wall when I see some vid or pic and the poster says "we didn't notice this until weeks/months/years later. Noone was down there where this figure is, everyone was somewhere else."
How in the heck can you be SURE – so much after the fact, especially – where everyone was? How can you be SURE that one of your friends hadn't gone ahead, or circled around…?
I have a "hiking" GPS that keeps track of where it is, it tracks time/place and even elevation. It seems to me that having anyone on a site during an "investigation" carry something like it is a great idea – it would eliminate this sort of misunderstanding. It wouldn't serve as PROOF (unless permanently affixed in some way ala the "tracking bracelets" used for criminals on home – detention) but would eliminate confusion…

Wow.That is amazing. An EVP from the spirit of Tweety Bird. Great catch.
RE the second clip: you have to respect someone who'll come out and admit he made a mistake.
Of all the theories regarding ghosts and ghost hunting, the whole EVP thing is the hardest for me to believe. They're fun to listen to and try to decipher; but at the end of the day, I just have a hard time believing it's the spirit of a dead person trying to communicate.

Could be a bit of a problem when the investigation is inside, though. AGPS would help, but the accuracy often isn't adequate. They can certainly do a lot better than what I've seen in various shows, videos, etc, though!
@Crow…I agree, it's funny how GH goes on and on about visual matrixing (or at least they did before trying to pass of matrixed evidence) but I don't know if anyone has ever brought up that the human ear has the same flaw and tries to hear intelligible sounds where there are none.

Hah! "You move the table.", "I don't want to move the table." I really wonder if some people thought that was real? It would be sad, but some people will be in almost anything.
