Sometimes I come across a science article and I just kind of sit there and stare at the screen.  Here's an example of one of those time (also has a video):

http://www.sciencedaily.com/vi…..friend.htm

I don't want wasps in my lab.  I don't care what they can do…I just don't want wasps in my lab.

"The advantages of a wasp over a dog is you can produce them by the thousands. They are real inexpensive, and you can train them in a matter of minutes," Joe Lewis, a research entomologist at University of Georgia in Athens, tells DBIS."

Thousands?  This guy wants thousands of wasps in my lab?  *shakes his head* There are not words in the English language that can convey how much that is NOT going to happen… Yell …Laugh

I wouldn't worry, this was almost five years ago so the guy probably ran into some sort of hitch (like a few hundred wasp stings) and has since abandoned any plans to mandate wasp-hiring at labs Laugh

I wonder if they can be trained to detect magnetic fields just as easily!

I think it is a great idea…and I would love a lab full of wasps…or Bald-Faced Hornets, to be exact.  Those creatures are brilliant! Unlike honey bees, they are capable of performing multiple tasks throughout their lives, as the need arises.  And they don't really get agressive until the end of the season when the hive hierarchy starts to break down.

I wonder why we haven't heard more about it?
