From the Journal of Cosmology, 2011, Vol 13:

"Dr. [Richard B] Hoover has discovered evidence of microfossils similar to Cyanobacteria, in freshly fractured slices of the interior surfaces of the Alais, Ivuna, and Orgueil CI1 carbonaceous meteorites."

Stay tuned and we'll see what the reviewers say:

"Members of the Scientific community were invited to analyze the results and to write critical commentaries or to speculate about the implications. These commentaries will be published on March 7 through March 10, 2011."

It sounds like the probable origin is cometary or the asteroid belt, rather than planetary ejecta, (e.g. Martian)?

"Although ejecta from the moon and Mars are associated with several known meteorites, the parent bodies for vast majority of all meteorites on Earth are the asteroids. The high water content, D/H ratios, and the evidence of extensive aqueous alteration of the CI1 carbonaceous meteorites indicate their parent bodies were either water-bearing asteroids or comets."

That was the impression I got.  The one in the 90s that resulted in a Presidential news conference was Martian (and is being revisited), but these give me higher hopes since I've long believed it quite likely that life on earth could have been seeded by one of these rogues passing by at the right time.  We'll just have to wait and see how this one is received.  It sounds like they went about this in a bit better fashion as far as review than the arsenic and old water that took place in December!

I liked the original 90's Martian rock with the worm thingy (scientific speak) in it. It really looked like something.

I agree, I think the problem with that 90s rock was the contamination issue that was raised, ie that the thingys were much younger and formed in the last 13,000 years or so…after it had arrive on earth, not that the thingys weren't wormy.  But new studies are disputing the disputes that were originally raised to dispute the Martianinity of the thingys.

Jeez, they really went over it in detail in that PDF didn't they?

I want to see GH/I do a reveal like that, not "here's a blinking light. We think it's paranormal". Though I suppose the show would go a bit overtime.
