I seem to recall a movie from back in the late 1960s (no I don't recall seeing it then!) titled Blackbeard's Ghost starring Peter Ustinov as the title character. Unfortunately, I'm not expecting anything tonight that is going to top Mr Ustinov's performance in that. Probably won't even top Dean Jones' performance. Pleshette? Well, maybe.
Nevertheless I've always enjoyed pirate stories and the idea of pirate treasure, though never found any myself…the closest I've come are those gold-foil covered chocolate coins, but I digress.
"While on a quest to uncover the ghost of the infamous pirate Captain Blackbeard, the brothers lead the Ghost Lab team aboard an old Mississippi steamboat, where rumors say the maritime marauder's spirit still haunts the corridors."
This should be interesting because I had no idea that Blackbeard was a River Pirate, nor that the Queen Anne's Revenge was a steamboat. So, I may learn many things tonight! Did Ed ever get over as far up as Louisiana during his Caribbean marauding days? Are they thinking of Lafitte? When making crawfish etouffee is one pinch of cayenne really enough? Tune in tonight…we may not learn the answers to any of these, but it could still be thought provoking.
Edited: Well, it seems that creative advertising has blended two short episodes into one long episode above. No, Edward Teach was not a Riverboat Captain. The second episode will be an investigation a Riverboat to see if it's captain still roams the corridors:
"The Ghost Lab team embarks on a paranormal treasure hunt to track the ghost of the notorious pirate Blackbeard. Then they venture up the Mississippi to see if a majestic steamboat is still under the watchful eye of a deceased captain."
I have to say that I'm somewhat disappointed by this, would have made for a much more interesting episode methinks.

More than one pinch of cayenne is needed when cooking.
However, only a dash of file' is necessary when served.
So, concerning Mr. Teach, does this mean that Bo and Luke Duke were in NC recently?
Blackbeard never sailed the Gulf of Mexico so the whole pirate, La., Mississippi thing kinda' confuses me.

Yeah, kinda confusalated me, too…I shore didn't think he got that far west, either, but apparently the original writeup mangled two different episodes together. NC is a lot more what I'd be expecting for Blackbeard. We'd have a whole lot of new theories to test, though, if he DID haunt some Riverboat! Thus my disappointment.
One pinch seemed awfully weak to me, musta been a PC recipe that I was looking at!

Blackbeard's NC connection.

Maybe that etouffee needs some Tabasco to heat it up.
Oh, by the way, they are in the process of perserving and retrieving artifacts from the Queen Anne's Revenge.

I can only shake my head in response to this episode. I was shaking my fist last night as they decided to dig up part of the historic grounds of that home. Even if it is not public property, it is still a historic site and any digging should at least be supervised by an archaeologist. Instead, Moe and Schmoe are at it at night with headlamps and rounded shovels. Trowel anyone? At least a token referral to a historic archaeologist? Come on! They talked to one how many episodes ago about something completely different from archaeology. Here is a prime chance to use a scientist properly and instead the treasure hunters go off in their own direction.

LOL – when they are playing back some supposed EVP of a woman saying something about a ring, they are showing us the exact same video clip they used in S01E09 … the one where the editor shows they have Growl_Barn Loft.mp3 loaded in.

After the twelfth beer, "diggin' fer pirate treasure" probably sounded like a great idea. You know, kind of like most of their great ideas. Unfortunately for them, and us, their great ideas are quite typically devoid of logic…
