IMO, neck scratches would be easier. Neck closer to hands
Actually, with any of these scratching incidents (including those documented outside of a television screen supposedly caused by poltergeists etc.) my 1st thought is always forgetfulness. Well, not always, but I'm feeling charitable this morning. How many times have I discovered a scratch, a bruise even, & wondered when & how I got it. Many. I try not to immediately attribute them to an annoyed Casper. 2nd thought on ghost scratches for me is a simple case of fakery through misdirection.
Weren't there other instances of scratching on GH besides the recent "demonic" one? Were early on in the show's run. Scratches on J or G's backs, arms maybe, can't recall right now.

I think it was the Cranston case. It was a local case where the family reported activity. Jason and Grant were i think down in the basement talking to the daughter. Later on, jason felt like he was scratched or something, and they showed the sratch on his shoulder and how red the area was. Later when talking to his wife about the case, you again got to see his shoulder and it was still red, but looked a little better than when they first noticed it at the investigation. His wife told him to be careful.TAPS felt somehow the haunting was centered around the daughter perhasp. That's the family where the bust of Shakespeare supposedly moved according to the family.
Yeah, I have found scratches or a bruise on myself, and not even known it happend. Nothing paranormal about it. But i imagine such things do happen. People who have been on the tour in Edenbourgh,Scotland of the Covenanter's prision area of Grey friars church yard have been scratched and touched so it is possible.

Yes legs and feet I can understand. Have done it myself there, but for most of us face and neck get looked at every day, maybe several times a day Lol, in a mirror under scrutiny and we are usually more careful in this area.
For myself, it would be most unusual were I to get scratched in the face or neck and either not know about it straight away or forget about it altogether.

Is it just me or do they travel great distances to not do much. Are they investigators or not? I just can't get into this show for some reason. Seems like they're just out there trying to prove something but I'm not sure what yet. Maybe they're just trying to bring new ideas out into the field. So far they really haven't proven much to me.

HollyDolly,
Thanks. Cranston house, that was it. I didn't buy it then either.
Learjet,
I've had cat scratches on the back of my neck & never felt or noticed them until I was putting my hair up. Do fellas look at the back of their heads as much as women when combing their hair? I'll take your word for it, as the sig other has his head buried in the Angels-Yankees game so can't really ask right now.
Both,
I'm certainly not trying to negate a legitimately unexplained (& ultimately unexplainable) scratching of an investigator or anyone else who claims said marks are from a paranormal source, but the idea something like this will happen during the filming of one of these tv shows strikes me as convenient. I admit to a major problem re: the regularity with which Ghost Hunters & all the shows their success has spawned hit the paranormal mother load while on camera.

Damn! You beat me to it. Yes – for only $6,200.00 (plus a computer and compatible webcam…optional printer) – you, too, can use this piece of pseudo-scientific crap. For additional $$$, you can add the AuraCam 6000/Coggins Camera to it. Make sure you take this to your local New Age expo so you can soak naive customers…I mean…enrich enlightened fellow explorers (and help pay down the financing costs). Or better yet – have a cable channel fund all your "toys" and set back legitimate research many years…

I won't get into the science of this show because there was none in my opinion. Lab. Ha.
I just thought it was funny. I enjoyed the pseudo-science. Really funny.

I'm thinking if the show doesn't work out they could use the trailer and hawk sausages at the county fair. In fact, I think I've seen the brothers there operating rides.

I had actually found that one – it looks very similar, but the sensor pad and the software are different. I suppose the guy who brought it to them might have bought the first generation model. I wanted to find the exact unit since the announcer makes the interesting statement that the device is "used in some medical practices"

Yes, but notice just how generic that quote is: "some medical practices." It could be anything.

Now you can say it Doc, Casper must have been vibrating real fast as the spook is supposed to be stationary yet the AC meter is picking it up?
Just thinking about this some more…wonder how much the spirit would have to be "fidgiting" to cause enough motion to be detected?

By jove you may have something there. Casper could have Parkinson's or restless legs syndrome!

LOL, I know sometimes I just can't sit still for too long :) In all seriousness, though, just how motionless would the METER have to be? If the meter is being waved around even a little bit, is that enough? A motionless spook and a moving meter would set up the same relationship as a motionless meter and a moving spook.

Yes that's correct. You can sneak a magnet past an AC EMF meter slowly without activation. Any sudden movement though and it will register briefly as a spike.
By the same token the meter will settle as soon as Casper stops fidgeting.
In the episode they show the meter perfectly still on the chair with no quick fluctuation. I would bet the field was of man made origin.
That's for AC fields. It's different for DC electrostatic and the Trifield meter which can register the electrical charge of a biological entity even if it's not moving. These are completely invisible to an AC meter moving or not.
Got to love this stuff and how they always get it wrong on the TV shows.
