Pin pointing the signal source can be done to some extent, if it's not too far away. If held horizontal the antenna becomes bidirectional. This is how I knew the military transmission was either east or west of me, not north south.
What I want to know is the specific frequency or set of frequencies, if any, that ghosts emit once they manifest. Once this is known then more suitable equipment can be employed for the task. Or at least the spectrograph can be zoomed in and monitored within that frequency range.
I don't know much about passive 3D modeling at low frequencies, or even if it's possible. The latest earthquake or tsunami monitors I imagine would be the first obvious civilian use of that technology.
Motion sensors are another thing that comes to mind. But again I don't know how easy it would be to get a graphical representation of what they are sensing.
