Despite dwindling ratings, GH has been renewed for another 20 episodes which will air in 2012.  Tells me that SciFi ain't got nothing.

20 episodes. whoosh. Well, plenty more publicity. If you can even call it publicity with, as you say, dwindling ratings. Ghosts are out, zombies are in!

and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

If their viewership is sliding, then go back to your roots, and do homes like in the past.If you do historical places, or what have you, then do places which have an actual history of hauntings, going back 40,50 or more years, not just some place cause the owner thinks  it would be great for business.

Steve's frantic call to Jason and Grant fortuitously happened just in time for them to catch it while filming the drive-away scene for the Pearl Harbor investigation.  (anyone buying this?)  In it, Steve had been contacted by a family who is in desperate need of help, and there is a child involved.

So, as Jason reiterated last night while on the phone, that is what TAPS was founded on and this is where it's all at so we will have at least one residence investigation next season.  (anyone buying this?)  Course, if that's what TAPS was founded on, why have they strayed so far?  No families contacting them?  Too much $$$$$$$ in the other investigations?

Edited to Add: How would one define an "actual history of hauntings" though?

I guess what I mean Nosfer, is some place like say the Tower of London, which has had many sightings over the years of various ghosts,by people who actually work ,and or live on the grounds. Places that are said to be haunted, in which there may actually be some historical basis for the ghost, like say Anne Boleyn, walking round the Tower with her head tucked underneath her arm, or the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall, Leap Castle, etc.

Sure these are European examples, but there are such places in the US too. Doesn't TAPS aka GH do any research on these commerical cases? There is the Lalurie Mansion in New Orleans owned by Nicholas Cage which has a horrible history when Madame lalurie and her husband owned the place back in the 1800s.What they ,or she did to their slaves was horrible, and actual historical fact and is documented. The place has a had a reputation of being haunted long before the age of tv and radio. Understand that Cage and his family will stay in the place, but not over night,at least that's what he said in an interview with Jay Leno.

Not that Nicholas Cage would let them do any investigation there, but that is the sort of thing I'm thinking of.

Hmm…why wouldn't Nicholas Cage let people do an investigation there?  I know very little about him but I'm positive that I heard he was facing some recent and very serious financial problems.  Does he actually say "no" to any movie role these days?  Laugh  So I don't understand why he would say no to something that may be financially beneficial to him (having GH investigate one of his properties).

Cage would have the same baggage as a lot of the places they investigate.  He indeed HAS had financial problems in the past that he's blamed on his manager.

The main reason Cage wouldn't allow GH to investigate the Lalurie Mansion, though, is that he no longer owns it.  He bought it for 3.45 million four years ago and it sold in a foreclosure auction (at a significant loss) to Regions Financial Corporation (about a year and a half ago) for 2.3 million.

The problem with all this is that until a haunting is proven in a certain area, it really has no more or less a "history of hauntings" than any other place.  History of reports, yes, but from what we've seen of a lot of eyewitness testimony, what is the worth of a report?

Tower of London?  All hearsay and reports, just like any other place.  And, the Tower charges to go into it, at least it used to and I can't imagine that's changed since I've been there.  So, it would be considered a commercial venue that could possibly benefit by the publicity.  Much like most of the places GH goes to now.  I wonder if Historic Royal Palaces would allow Ideal Events Management to sponsor "events" there? Laugh
