We have a two-fer this week with this half-season finale. The City Hall in Providence where a former mayor's ghost is alleged to haunt the building makes up one part and then the team travels to New York to help a couple whose 4 year old grandson sees ghosts in their house.
I can understand the team traveling to New York. But, the description of this episode also stated that the team traveled to Rhode Island. Well, I guess that makes sense, they ARE on the road quite a bit so an investigation in their home state might be something they have to travel for.
This might really even be considered a three-fer as this is a much anticipated episode, but not because of where they go or what ghosts are alleged to haunt the places. The "tease" last week has set quite a bit of discussion off in many places with explanations ranging the whole length of possibilities:
- Someone has been caught faking evidence and is being kicked off the team
- TAPS is moving its headquarters to the Spalding (I guess that would explain tears)
- Someone has a serious illness and has to leave the team
- It was determined that someone was stealing stuff from homes they investigate (not likely, they don't investigate that many homes)
- Family troubles for a team member cause him to need to leave the show
- Amy lost her flashlight
None of these really seem plausible. The most likely (at least to me) explanation is the breach of contract lawsuit filed at the end of December against NBCU, SYFY, Pilgrim, and Jason.
If (IF) this is the reason, it will be interesting to see how it is spun out for this next episode. The reason I don't think the faking evidence (or stealing stuff) have any merit whatsoever as a reason for the drama is because it would taint the show and trust would be gone (like it's in great supply to begin with) That being said, for the same reason I can't quite see them coming out and saying that they are being sued for theft of idea and breach of implied contract.
This could be a half-season that was cut short, too, since it's been
several seasons since the first half has only run for six episodes. Cutting it short does leave some questions.
You can bet your last EMF meter that the upcoming script was written or at least okayed by their legal team and may be why I think it was shot in multiple takes (wrist bands seem to change size between scenes)
Or, this could all be because Steve saw another freakin' cricket or spider. Regardless, be sure to watch and see what really happens and how it happens.

Well, now we know.
Think it could be the alleged divorce or other personal family issues Grant might be having?
If anything, this will allow the teams to be restructured a bit. Since Grant has a "few more cases", it sounds more like this season will be the Grant Wilson Farewell Tour, and next (?) season will be a little different.

Funny, though, when that episode was actually filmed. Seems like he's dragging his farewell tour out quite awhile. He's also still traveling around with Jason to various things, so I wonder how "stressed" he is.
The lawsuit did figure into the first episode…did anyone catch it? And, no, I'm not referring to Amy mentioning the word when going through some of the books.

This is very sad. Who will pull strings, toss hangers and set off K2 meters now? Maybe this is the information Steve is talking about sucking from his brain before he leaves.
They should replace Grant with a skeptic.

'' Don't cry for me Argentina…..er Grant ''
Word on the Paranormal Vortex Expressway of Love is that Grant is opening a Spaulding Inn Casino in York, SC.
Property, (Indian Burial Mound), has already been purchased. Lot'sa quartz and running water near by. Batteries Plus just down the road.
Most importantly they have reached a agreement with the IUGSD?,(International Union Of Ghosts, Spooks, Demons and Whatz' That).
Gonna' be big!
Next years' Super Bowl winners will be asked, ''What's next''? Team replies in unison, ''Spaulding Inn''!!!
''Come on dice, baby needs a new pair of shoes''.
'' Don't cry for me you gullible people''

Ironically enough, any type of Full Bodied Apparition, Hanger Gate, or other issues haven't transpired the past few seasons.
Replace Grant with Zak. You know. Jason can play Good Cop to Zak's Insane Cop.

We did have that one FBA not too long ago, you know , the one of the person on the steps being made transparent by the framerate.
The SFT and RFT (rolling flashlight trick) come close to the hanger toss, just a different suspect…namely the film editor.

The show will never be the same again. No more fake Roto-rooter scenes where they are called by Amy in the middle of a plumbing job. That scene where G tells of his leaving plans to J in the middle of an investigation on camera – also fake.
Anyway I reckon the show has had it. J&G are the main attraction, the rest are just sidekicks.

Meanwhile, real life goes on. Sometimes I can walk around all day long and never see a ghost or have my collar tugged and my flashlight stays off.

Oh yeah.
Forgot about Casper/Cameraman/Steve the Tech Mangler on the steps with the pinspot flashlight.
