The team heads to Virginia to investigate the Major Graham Mansion. What can I say about a place whose banner states:

"Don't miss the HISTORIC & HAUNTED Major Graham Mansion"

What can I say about a place that, immediately under that, continues with headings like:

"Tune In! We're On Ghost Hunters Wednesday February 8, 2012!!"

and

"NEW! Public Paranormal Investigations"

Followed by:

"Be a Ghost Hunter at the Haunted Graham Mansion!"

Followed by an endless listing of ghost this and haunted that and tour this.

And, if you want to shell out the $100 to investigate, take note that the Graham Mansion becomes the sole owner of all data collected and that all evidence collected must be provided to them within two weeks of the investigation. Any financial gain from the use, sale, and distribution of the data goes to the Mansion as well.

I'm getting sick and tired of these types of investigations. So, what can I say about this one? Not much, the place is already haunted according to them so why is GH coming here? To give the standard "We don't see anything here to fear?" Other groups have investigated here and supposedly found evidence, evidence enough for the Mansion to declare itself haunted and run a haunted house business. What pretext will they use in the opening scene to bring GH here? Will we have owners who are afraid to stay there? Or, will we have owners who just want to know who the ghosts are?

I am holding out the slimmest of hopes that they pull a Winchester House or Moss Beach here and tell them they didn't find anything, but I don't think the chances are too good of that.

What do you think the "Big News" is for next week?  Is someone leaving the show?  Is the show being cancelled?  What is the big deal?  Why was Steve crying?!Confused

Spider or bat, probably.  I think they're all scared of ratings, GHI is on hiatus and DT isn't airing until later this year so maybe they are thinking they need to go out at the end of this season with the highest ratings ever so they worked something in.  Looked like someone could be leaving.

Flashlights not work this week Amy? Of course the place turns out to be haunted.

I thought most of it was blah except for one EVP of a female voice near the end of the reveal. It seems loud enough but I can't make out any words. Anyone else have better luck?

I was most impressed by the over-exaggerated facial expressions of the client!

The four main members (minus J&G) are seated around the table and wondering what is going on.  This could mean one of three things.

None of the four are involved in what is about to happen

One of them is but is playing along to add to the suspense

None of the four know what is about to happen but someone is to be called out for faking things

I doubt it's the last one (or at least not in as many words) because of the implications for going forward.  Amy's statement could be a ploy and she and Grant are later hugging as if a tender and touching (ratings boosting) farewell moment.  So, odds on bet is Amy or Grant based on that.  Grant's statement to Jason when they are alone does cast some doubt on it being Grant but he's still top contender.  So, someone will be leaving and Jason will probably put Hailey on the team to bring them up to the original number again.  Jason, himself, is a possibility given his line in the preview.

TAPS has their own critical blogger, who has an interesting read on the matter. Basically, Grant is gone.

Wonder if this motion filed the end of December 2011 has anything to do with it and it may also explain why GHI is in limbo?  This would affect GHI as well since it also was a part of the concept that the plaintiffs pitched.

http://www-deadline-com.vimg.n…..171003.pdf

"In their suit, Montz and Smoller ask the courts for damages, including injunctions against all defendants which would, if granted, block any further distribution and/or broadcast of, "…..any and all products and/or series based on Plaintiffs Concepts, including but not limited to Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International…." and further seeks financial damages."

I kinda, sorta see why there'd be some hoopla involving one of the founders of the company leaving, but I guess that means that Donna's departure, and other "long time friends" leaving don't mean anything.

Well, they never really did I guess.

Brian Harnois kept leaving and coming back…and I think it was Season 3 where he and Donna had a long conversation about his behavior

and leaving affected a lot of people.

Whatever happened to Mr Sludge on my Hand, Brian Hill?

That is interesting Nosfer, but I doubt they would gotten a TRO this quickly.  In fact, they are not even requesting one here.  I am not an entertainment lawyer, but am a lawyer, and a little surpirsed that there is no mention of any confidentiality agreements or other documents signed.  Maybe that is the norm in the entertainment industry.  Remember though, much like a grand jury in a criminal case, the Complaint is only the Plaintiff's side of things and crafted to be as favorable to their set of facts as possible.  I would be interested in reading the Defendants' Answer.  It should have been filed by now.

Jason announced on the 25th of January that the TAPS web site would be changing (it did).  Interestingly this coincided to the day with Kris saying on twitter that she needed a change in her life and that she would be taking a break from it and facebook…course that lasted a total of 18 hours, but still.

This issue is something that has been going on for a few years now and an injunction against broadcasting anything based upon the plaintiffs concepts (if granted) would change forever GH (and GHI)

It would, but I can tell you that any change like that would be pounced upon by the Plaintiff's attorneys as evidence of guilt.  I suspect SyFy and Pilgrim will continue on business as usual until actually ordered by the court to do otherwise.  I would be surprised if any of the attorneys for any of the Defendants tell their clients to do anything other than stay the course.  I suspect these kind of suits happen all the time over popular shows, we just don't hear about all of them.  Until you dug this Complaint up, I hadn't heard of this one.

After watching the promo again though, I felt like it was more likely Jason was leaving than Grant, if anyone is leaving.  I still bet that it is going to be underwhelming and this is all overblown theatrics.  Not like we haven't seen that before from this show.  Maybe they are promoting Steve to full-fledged Ghost-Stud or something and he is overrun with emotion.

This start of the season also appears to have been cut short, not since Season Three has the first half of the season had only six episodes, it's usually almost twice that.  If a temporary injunction was ordered, it would affect GHI and as far as I know, that's still slated to air on the 22nd, but I am placing my money on this being the reason for the hoopla and will know this coming week.

I wonder if that's why the concept of GH changed a few years ago from a reality show about ghost hunters to a show just about ghost hunting. No more showing personality conflicts between team members, though a lot of that seemed staged anyway, and more focus on the investigations.

Based on what I was reading in the lawsuit, it looks like they should be suing every ghost hunting show out there based on their list of concepts! GA, Ghost Labs, Paranormal Cops, etc.  They all are ordinary people, with ordinary jobs, that ghost hunt famous or non-famous locations. They don't have a "host". They use the same equipment and they try to help people with paranormal activities.   Ridiculous!  Everyone wants to make a buck these days and why not jump on the cash cow right?  It will be interesting, but I think since Jason is named in the lawsuit, it's him because he will have to being going back and forth to LA and probably needs the time.  Although, I think Grant maybe going through some personal issues and is pulling out to spend time with is family.  I swear I used to see a wedding ring on his finger and now there isn't one. Otherwise, once again they make a huge ordeal out of nothing and want to jack up the ratings!

We could only with it was Steve, who is the biggest, tattooed baby I have ever seen.  Seriously, the man should lose his man card with the girlish reactions to spiders and insects and all the fears he has. I don't like spiders, but his reactions out girl me!

The difference, though, is that some specific ideas and names were pitched, apparently turned down, and then used with another team.  That makes it different than all the other shows although I don't understand how we can have all these variations of "repo" shows without someone crying foul, too.

It has been the case since Desny v Wilder in 1956.  It is even called a Desny Claim now when something like this happens.
