It's off to Bethlehem for a magical Christmas special to end this part of the season. In the distance you can hear the sounds of cattle lowing punctuated by the din of mortars and rockets as one of the many factions tries to reclaim some territory lost in the 8th century…oh, wait a minute, gettings some late breaking news here. Hold on. Okay, sorry folks, it appears that GH is only going to the Bethlehem in Pennsylvania, not the one in Palestine. Drat, would have made for a much more interesting show.
They are investigating the Sun Inn, built about three and a half centuries ago; something that old HAS to be haunted, right? Watch as Grant astounds us with his powers of observation, walking into a room and looking at an alcove by the floor with hanging pots and other cooking utensils. Nothing gets by him as he calmly informs us "That's a fireplace!" They proceed to finish the tour of the room saying, from time to time, little tidbits like "That's a window. That's a door. That's a horse with a hat on it." (sorry William Shatner)
I think they ruined my "Ghost of Christmas Future" joke last year with their title of "Ghosts of Christmas Past" for the mid-half-portion finale, so, this year I'll just say their gonna investigate the Dickens outta this place.
Sounds like an innocent enough investigation, right? Well, again, we have a conflict of interest. Here's what TAPS Paramagazine has to say about the Sun Inn: "a very special landmark poised to be the next big thing of paranormal tourism". You can just Ghost Hunt, or you can partake of a Dinner and a Ghost Hunt, or you can go all out and have an overnight Ghost Hunt (cause they only come out at night, right?)
I have to admit, the rosemary roasted pork loin listed as an option for the dinner doesn't sound too bad…but I ain't paying $70 for it.
What started the interest here? About three years ago the Inn was featured in the book "Bethlehem Ghosts" and set the wheels of commerce in motion. It is only fitting that the "season" ends with a stark reminder of the commercialization of Christmas and the Paranormal.

Why does this group act like pedophiles when they 'investigate a child haunting'.
''I've got a new toy for you if you come out'', ''I'll buy you a new dress if you appear Sarah'', '' Touch my (fill in body part here) if you're in the room''.
Yeeesh!

Why does the thermal figure of the "little girl" look like it pans perfectly with the motion of the FLIR and looks like something that is very close to the lens?

I watch these episodes on YouTube the next day, and here is a comment on one of the youtube videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..8FVojlLjto):
"That IR Footage of the little girl "Sarah" was no entity at all! It was a CHAIR. They were actually walking around it at the time. The camera was in motion from right to left, and that gave the illusion that something moved from left to right, blocking out the production light's reflection in the window behind. It was just the guys passing a chair! No ghost at all. Amazing how no one at TAPS noticed this… You can even see the chair that made the image right behind them!"
I tend to not scroll down to the comments on YouTube videos (I'm sure everyone here understands why…) but thise one caught my eye and funnily enough, I had just watched that scene and thought the same thing, it looked like some object, not an entity.
Also, I love how nobody can ever hold the damn IR camera steady. The footage is so bouncy that it always seems like they just catch something in the corner of the screen… or just a brief glimpse of something while doing a sloppy pan of the room… I mean they rely so much on it, how about you sit down, hold it steady, and not do a freakin tap dance while you're holding the thing? (well, i think we all know why)

Sorry, just started watching the second part of this episode. I find it funny that Grant says "ghost dont HOVER, ghosts dont FLOAT, that's a thing of the movies." Well, there's an old episode where they went to Henson Studios in Hollywood, and they catch what looks to be a human form standing behind (I think) a big box. When they walk up to the boxes, they recreate the scene but Jason had to stand on a chair in order to get the upper half of his body to show from behind the object. Grant then says that whatever it was had to be floating 3 feet off the ground.
So… do ghosts float or not? No? Okay.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..cMc4xl4vKg Here's the video from Henson studios, part I'm talking about starts about 6 minutes in.
Sorry, just something I remembered.

This episode was heavily biased from the start with finding little boy and little girl ghosts. Everything they saw and heard was molded around that premise. Their evidence could show nothing else.
I'm surprised that Amy didn't do her famous SFT and have a nice long conversation with thermal effects. Or maybe she did, it didn't go according to plan and the footage ended up on the cutting room floor.
They should also have set up Teddy, so he could fall over and prove the existence of gravity, sorry I mean ghosts, like falling Barbie. Maybe if Teddy could fly around the room a bit, about the height that a child ghost would carry him about….

I loved the explanation about the window. Ghosts don't fly so it had to be the REFLECTION of a ghost in the window.

I was waiting for the SFT, too, but…did you notice? They have different flashlights now it seems (at least Amy and What's his name did)

Ah yes they do too. These new lights must be too difficult for ghosts to use.
At least there was some EMF madness to keep me amused. I was sure the basement was going to be labeled as a fear cage, considering the wiring. Yet they seamed to overlook that. Then Steve finds some brain manipulating EMF at the bar.
Next time I see my doctor I must ask him if in all his career he has ever had a case where home/work ambient EMF levels have ever caused illness in any of his patients.

As soon as the scene of the sightings was shown to be a bar I wondered about the inebriation factor. And the tour guide was saying how he kept seeing the apparition and then it turned out that he saw it on average once every six years.

What furthered the commercialism of this episode was that it CLEARLY was not filmed at any time close to the Christmas season. In fact, it was filmed on September 20th thanks to a brief clip of Amy viewing the camera set up screen. It makes me wonder if these two places deliberately put out their Christmas decorations and lights very early specifically for Ghost Hunters to come in and film their holiday episodes and drum up business for the real Christmas holiday. I know places seem to put out their stuff earlier and earlier, but it just added to the fact that Ghost Hunters were there just for advertising purposes so it makes it hard to believe their evidence.

For further evidence of commercialization see:
http://bethlehem.patch.com/art…..site-alive
Specifically statements like:
Szulborski said that ghost activity has increasingly become a source of income for the preservation association, which continues to struggle to find the resources it needs to keep the inn open.
“The Inn has been a challenge with the ongoing maintenance and funding. We work with grants because museum admission doesn’t do it. Our ghosts have been doing it,” said Szulborski.
In fact, the Sun Inn is hosting a ghost hunting dinner tonight with a $70 admission price and an overnight ghost hunting stay on Saturday.
