"TAPS encounters the spirits of restless athletes at the Baseball Hall of Fame." Well, guess that means we know they find something. Of course, didya have any doubts?
In this episode we see Amy, a model of the 5 TAPS qualities, kicking open a door! Nice.
And best of all it looks like we are also treated to another white hot thermal hit of a figure. Fortunately, Jason (or was it Grant) has already explained to us via their lesson with Josh that this is likely a living human. But, they seem to get excited about it anyway.
My question is, why would the spirits end up at the Hall of Fame? Be prepared for explanations about "association" with things like bats, balls, gloves, uniforms, etc.

I suspect it's just somewhere they always wanted to visit… man, can they get any more lame?
Next season: TAPS goes to a haunted football stadium to watch a game between the Patriots and some other team; then they investigate Oz-Fest; (after all, Ozzy's affilaition with the dark and occult are widely known ); later on in the season, the gang tackles strange happenings on the beach in Cancun.
The shocking season finale will feature Jason and his wife making whoopee in their bed when a strange figure appears under the sheets with them. [Spoiler Alert: it turns out to be Grant - he thought he heard some suspicous moaning and went to "investigate"]

Don't suppose it's to promote something like this, now would it be? Hmmm? You think? Just possibly? Maybe? eh?

@ Realdeal – Hmmm…I can see that the two time stamps are not synchronized because they seem to be off by a second. But…what leads you to believe that the time stamps, as seen in your picture, are "fake?"
Ok…in other news…
In Stephen's review of GH's second episode this season, he had this to say:
"There were also some slamming doors. Have you ever noticed how ghosts on Ghost Hunters seem to have fads? In earlier seasons, ghosts apparently liked to lead Jay and Grant on chases through long corridors. Then, for a while, ghosts were murmuring to them in tinny-sounding voices. Nowadays they like to slam doors when no one is looking. At least one of these doors was actually in full view of a camera, so I thought, perhaps, they would show us this door opening and closing by itself, or otherwise admit that it wasn't that particular door. Instead, they merely said in the reveal that the DVR showed no one nearby. Nice to know, but what I wanted to know was, "Did the door open?!" Doors staying closed without anyone nearby is hardly paranormal, and sounds by themselves don't impress me much. I suspect that we will continue to hear the sounds of mysteriously slamming doors for at least a few more episodes, though."
I think this cements Stephen's role as SV's prophet. 500 Revenant points for that prophecy. Has there been a "door incident" in every episode thus far?
Wow…Britt and the Amazing Double Doors. Only out-done by Britt and the Amazing Shadow Chase. I can't believe that I actually miss Steve and Tango.
And just something that bothers me…in the promo of the episode, we clearly see a white hot human figure on the FLIR walking away from the camera. We are lead to believe that this is some sort of evidence of a ghost. As I watched the actual show…it turns out that it was actually Grant just walking. Now they do catch something with the FLIR (still have to look at that a bit more) but that isn't what was on the promo. Fair or foul? I say foul. At the very least…not cool. Very misleading. Then again…maybe it's just symbolic of the entire show…

Sounds like another place trying to cash in on the ghost craze.Hey, maybe when they are there, Ty Cobb might try to wack them in the head with his bat.
Never saw the movie with Tommy lee Jones as Ty Cobb, but i understand that rumor has it he was a bit of a nut case. This is the first I have heard of any ghosts at the place. Ah yes, Oz Fest,I remember when Ozzy came here to San Antonio and took a whiz on the Alamo downtown when he was here to do a concert.Boy that sure raised a stink in the local press!

I just happened to catch part of the reveal of this ep last night, as I was flipping around.
1) The curator of the baseball hall of fame (or whatever he's called) seemed to me to be more amused than anything. He said things like, "whatever that is"; I got the feeling he wasn't buying any of it, and J&G just kept rolling anyway. It was definitely all a PR move.
2) The ghostly face image, the "voices" "caught" in EVP.. wow, pareidolia in full swing! The so-called "voice" sounded like nothing more than a squeaky door hinge to me, certainly not speech of any kind. The ghost image as well was quite a stretch, IMO. Face it guys, you got nothing.
If they're not faking stuff, they're just playing back anything and trying to use the power of suggestion to get their clients to buy into it. What a racket.
I think the only value of the current crop of paranormal ghost chasing shows is in the fact that they show serious ghost hunters how not to do a real investigation:
- "Going dark" is rarely useful, little more than theatrics in most cases.
- Why is everyone almost always "on the move" on these shows? A rolling stone gathers no moss. Stake out a room and stay there long enough to actually get a chance to get something! GH used to do this, it seems they don't so much anymore. They wander around with a handheld camcorder.
- Don't "Ooo" and "Aww" over every sound or smudge on video; pareidolia is your enemy, not your friend.
- Don't use cheap ass equipment like a K2, just because your "heroes" do. It only increases the chance of "false positives" and pareidolia. (I hate the term "matrixing", there is already a word for that, and it's pareidolia)
I can't even say these shows have entertainment value. Frankly, I find them boring as hell and insulting to my intelligence to boot.

Fraud was the term I used last night when I saw that it was Grant's figure that had been used in the promo. Foul applies as well. Couple the image with the fact that they then spliced in Britt pointing and charging off and they created an entirely different set of events for the promo to get people excited to watch it. Fraud.
Britt had no NV gear, how in the name of Captain Crunch did he see something that far away in the dark. Not to mention that I'm sure they showed him and KJ going around at least one corner…I guess Britt can see through walls now.
The time stamps. Yes they are out of sync. Are they fake? I don't think any of us could prove it from the evidence we see so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.
But, think about this for a minute. The FLIR has it's own time stamp, and what we see at the upper left is not the internal time stamp from the FLIR. What we have to be seeing then is a recording of the screen, that is, they filmed the FLIR's screen and the time stamp is on THAT. Why double-film? Why not use the RAW FLIR footage?

"Ty Cobb wanted to play but none of us could stand the son-of-a-b!tch when he was alive so we told him to stick it!"
Did TAPS hear "go the distance" on an EVP?

Hey guys — long time reader, first time poster.
I was just watching this episode on TiVo this morning.
In the first half of the show, when GH is at the lighthouse (Rose Island, was it?) Jay and Grant are investigating one of the bedrooms and the K2 starts to "go crazy". Grant gets up to investigate the closet (because… closets are spooky?) to (allegedly) see if there is anything inside the closet that would cause the K2 to go off. While Grant is at the closet there is a sound that Grant insists is a child's voice saying "mama". You can see Grant's mouth move when this sound occurs — plain as day, he makes the sound.
Anyone else notice this?

MandeG…I don't think so. I don't see his mouth mouthing anything, especially not on the second part of the sound.

Also, when Britt and KJ are investigating the room where the door supposedly opens and closes on it's own, you can see that the door behind KJ is unlatched (there is an obvious gap between the door and the frame while KJ is standing in front of the door, which isn't there when they close and latch the door during their "debunking" attempt) and it swings open as soon as KJ steps away. Notice how he takes one careful step forward, then one step to the side, clearing the swing radius of the door. It really looks like he was propping the door with his back to make it appear closed, then acts surprised when he steps away and the door swings out.

Quite probable. In the reveal Grant makes a point of saying "You notice both KJ's hands are on the camera" Something that could possibly be said to deflect away from KJ being the cause. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think a Britt list is in order, and with this, we should probably expand it to a Britt/KJ list.

Nosfer-
You are, of course, entitled to your own observation, interpretation and opinion. I, however, respectfully disagree.
The sound is something like "mow-ow" or "ma-ah". His lips wouldn't need to move on the second part of the sound. It's a little hard to follow as he starts to move his body half-way through the sound, but his head and jaws move in time with the sound.

There is possibly a change in the position of his lips during the first sound. I would wonder, though, why such a long pause between the two if he was going for Mama. And I'd also wonder why he would not make the second sound while his head was in a more obscure position. Maybe he just thinks he's undetectable? I will give it a "possible" at this point, though.
In line with this is the Whooo sound at the HoF, now that is a sound I've heard him make before, though I don't think we have a good view of him that time.

Stupid Door Trick again. How come they never tried the Stupid Flashlight Trick this ep? Or they did and it didn't go to air? Questions questions…
Another vote for a Britt list. Him and doors… and shadows always at the end of hallways.

About the "mysterious" thermal hit: Can anyone else remember an instance where they have placed a thermal camera as a static camera instead of carrying it around with them? Also, KJ or Britt (One of the new dumbnamic duo) says "I'm so glad I put that there" referring to the camera. That just sounded "off" to me.
The Stupid Door Trick: Britt is testing the first door to see if will remain closed with the window open. Why doesn't he ever actually latch the door? When the second door magically opens, they test the door by bounicing up and down on the floor boards. That's not a bad idea, but no one bothers to fab the other door open and closed like Britt was doing when the second door opened.
These idiots couldn't investigate their way through a "spot the differences" puzzle.
