I asked this question in my profile, and I'm interested in what other people think.
Why do none of these groups–TAPS and GHI in particular–investigate some really old sites? Places that come to mind are the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, the site of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest, the Catacombs of Rome, Thermopylae–many others, but you get the idea. Most of the places these people investigate are a few hundred years old at most. It seems to me that some really ancient sites might be worth looking at.

Because in theory (mine) ghosts have expiration dates. 300 to 500 years max, then they start losing their manifesting abilities.
This why we see so many apparitions in 18th and 19th century garb.
Also that's why we see no ghostly neanderthals or vikings.
Simple.
I know, I know, but it sounds just as feasible as quartz, limestone and underground flowing water.
Oh, I about forgot, iron also. Did I mention 'fear cage' too.
Welcome aboard Classicsman, enjoy the ride.

My guess would be production costs, plus J & G wouldn't know what in the world you were talking about. They seem to have trouble keeping the 19th century history straight.

I think we've been through this before in some thread, but where's all the ghost dinosaurs? Imagine T-Rex going BOO!

Welcome Classicsman. As far as the Valley of the Kings and the Catacombs, these places are still being painstakingly excavated and are (even with tourism) treated as very sacred sites. As far as any investigation in Egypt is concerned, I highly doubt that Zahi Hawass, head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, as much as he's highly addicted to the media/press, would ever agree to anyone doing such an investigation. He lives and loves his job and country equally and I can imagine nothing any show like GH, GHI could ever offer would even be remotely considered as an even viable proposition.

Well, to examine ancient sites, one doesn't have to leave the country. The USA may only be a few hundred years old, but there were people living here well before Columbus (…or the Vikings…) got here.
Here's one that isn't too far away from me (which…I still have to check out):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesa_Verde_National_Park
Those cave dwellings go back to the 12th century. Here's another website that mentions many more:

The Native American Indians have a deep and colorful history. It's a shame that more don't care about it or even acknowledge it.
Anyway, as it pertains to the paranormal…I've always wondered why EVP's don't show up way more Native American Indian languages. It's as if they never existed or something.
