Cool  I was earlier on the http://www.unexplainedmysteries.com forum, and under ghosts, hauntings and spirits

they had a topic  entitled Smoking Gun,Jason and Grant. Well, the op posted a link to http://www.scifake.com

and an interview Jason Hawes had with some guy named Ron Tebo.

While of course the subject of Grant and the jacket tug came up, naturally, well read the few opening sentences. Ron mentions some evp that GhostHunters?TAPS got in Altoona,or as he called it Altona.

It was some evp of I guess a little girl. Apparently it is all over the net.Mention is made of Jason wanting to protect his daugther's safety. ron says he would not post the evp to avoid exploitation of the little girl. Then he mentions his source saying the voice is that of Jason's daugther.

Now how in heaven's name would this be possible.First of all, neither he nor Grant take the kids around on investigations that i've ever seen. Secondly, as far as I know, Jason's kids are all living and breathing right now.

My understanding is that evps are supposed to be the vocies of dead people or disembodied sounds,

like when TAPS went to ireland to Lisheen Ruins, and caputred the sound of boots walking on a wood floor,Which Barry told them when they first got there about, and also when they did the reveal to him, again the  fact there were no wooden floors at Lisheen anymore was mentioned.

How do you get evps of living people, unless you are picking up radio signals or other sounds which have a

non paranormal explaination.

Just go and read this for yourself, and please explain to me what in heaven's name this guy is refering to inregards to the evp.

Holly… This investigation was shown in September 2008.    Go to the archive section on the right, September 2008 and you will see a long string of comment including some from the home owner, Brenda.

So the referrence in the article/site is to an investigation at the Altoona home, which can be found here on skeptical viewer.

http://www.skepticalviewer.com/2008/09/08/gh-101-altoona-home/

The debate is whether Jason took the recorder home to have his daughter speak into it, thus tampering with evidence, or not.  As the conversation at the link demonstrates, there is no hard evidence given that supports this conclusion.  If it is a human voice, by default it would not qualify as an EVP (although it is arguable whether or not anything can qualify as one), and would be damning to TAPS cause.

However in the end an EVP and standard voice recording are the same thing: sound digitally recorded and replayable.  Thus it may not be easy to distinguish between the two.  The only way to PROVE whether or not this is a recording of Jason's daughter would be to record his daughter's voice and do a comparison.  Jason is arguing that this entire process (including the speculation on the web), puts his daughter in a bad place, and thus he is protecting her.  As a parent of a young child I can respect that.

Frankly I don't think there's anything we can do about this.  There's enough other shennanigans with TAPS to review without ripping open their family lives or entertaining a theory without any data to support it.  If there are witnesses to this event, their tesitmony needs to be posted.  But they won't, and therefore we have none and can draw no firm conclusion.

I just can’t believe that people think that GH/GHI don’t fake the results. Of course they do! The networks have to make money. People like you believe a Ham Sandwich is a ghost if GH/GHI tells you it is. They produce fake results so that people like you believe they found ghosts.  OPEN your eyes, it’s a TV show nothing more. The networks want to make money on the show, DVD and other materials sold with the GH/GHI logos. Once they show is off the air, they will go back to cleaning toilets and flipping burgers.  Sorry but I travel to other countries for work and they can’t believe that we think what they put on TV is true. And that people pay to see the GH/GHI crew. If you check out SciFake, you will find out how many people have been ripped off also.

@ Not a Fan,  Whoa!  Quick and incorrect judgement there my friend.  Perhaps it's the jet lag, but you obviously have not read this site.  Not to be disrespectful, but maybe on those long flights overseas you could read through this board again as you don't seem to have a grasp or understanding of this site.  This is a skeptical viewer site not a TAPS/SciFi fan site.

Uh, Not a Fan….Please read before posting. Please refrain from making accusations directed at the nebulous "You" when, in fact, those accusations do not apply to most of "Us" here. I understand your discontent, but please direct it appropriately.

Geez o pete.  Surprised  What a rant.  I doubt that very many of us happen to live in trailer parks, but even if some of the posters here DO, that's not exactly a crime.  Neither is watching GH or any other TV show.  We watch GH because it's fun, and coming to this site and discussing it is even more fun.  Don't be such an elitist.

"Quando omni flunkus moritati" ("When all else fails, play dead") – Possum Lodge motto. Jason and Grant should adopt it as their own.

Wow. THAT'S got to be embarrassing.

I mean, did you even read the freakin' name of the website?

As my late father-in-law would say as he shook his head,

"umph"

I….I'm thinking.

Well, I live in another country… than the U.S.A that is. A country that actually doesn't have trailer parks. But that's beside the point really.

Sometimes we are flabbergasted by outright stupidity of american television, but we watch them like crazy. We understand you watch because, we watch too. And just as some in the U.S does not believe GH fakes stuff, some people over here in Europe do the same. It is not a question of country of residence…

Now, everything on tv can be faked, that does not mean everything is. A critical approach is however always healthy, but critical does not mean a general dismissal. Yes, there is ome evidence of fakery on GH, that doesn't mean everything they do is fake. It's not a black and white issue.  In fact, the purpose of this site (which you might have discovered if you took the time to read it) is to weed out the fake from the rest, by as best we can, critically analyze what we see on the show. We do not look for the fakery, we look for the other stuff and to find it we must identify foul play.

Also, I find it slightly offensive to use residence in a trailer parks as a insult and derogatory description of someone who does not agree with you. There is many reasons people end up in trailer parks, and to generally describe trailer park residents as stupid is well, stupid.

Furthermore believing GH's evidence to be genuine is not an indication of low intelligence, but simply a lack of critical thinking something people of all walks of life seem to have in this day and age.

As for scifake.com I am not impressed. Much ado about really nothing. And heavily directed towards GH/GHI as persons, something I have little interest in, as I only care about their actions.

I think it's you who need to take a walk inside a trailer park, a walk outside suburbia sometimes is not a bad idea.

And again, we have heard it before and it's still a bad argument, yes it's tv, but that does not really change anything. It's neither a basis for dismissal or belief, it simply means you have to adjust your analysis accordingly. Outright dismissal or ill-informed dismissal is every bit as stupid and closed-minded as blind belief.

When in doubt… figure it out!
