"Join host Josh Gates and members from Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International and Ghost Hunters Academy for a live broadcast of the ultimate hunt, featuring an exclusive panel discussion. Watch as the Ghost Hunters team bravely investigates the hellish confines that housed some of America’s most sadistic criminals.

Few were able to escape Alcatraz's hold while others were brutally murdered before making it out. Tune in Wednesday March 3 at 9/8c to see who TAPS finds still lurking around."

This should be interesting – no indication of exactly who is showing up where, although Jay and Grants pictures are on the promo page with Josh.

Another page says -" Join Syfy, the stars of Ghost Hunters and host Josh Gates in 30 Rock's legendary Studio 8H for an exclusive live broadcast of Ghost Hunters: Alcatraz Live Event."

It appears the Alcatraz Live event is taking place in Midtown Manhatten ?

Its in New York and they are looking for an audience but only if you live in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut. http://www.syfy.com/ghosthunters/live/audience/index_t.php  At 30 Rock NBC studios becasue SyFy and NBC are a part of the same company.

Jason is still claiming they work for RotoRooter doing commercial building work when not filming.

So it's a showing of a pre-packaged and edited  Alcatraz "ultimate Hunt" along with a live panel discussion of pre-screened questions.

Remember how entertaining the last "panel discussion" they had was ?  The one that was initially billed as a review of the previous weeks live show evidence.

Anyone want to bet that this will turn out to be a 100th episode tribute love fest ?

Unless they've changed things since the last time I was in 8H, the audience is going to be very disappointed trying to watch the Alcatraz video on the monitors they are able to see.

I found this page interesting -

http://www.examiner.com/x-27376-Parananormal-TVWeb-Site-Examiner~y2010m2d5-Discovery-ID-channel-to-show-new-ghost-show

the writer appears to believe that the show was going to be live from Alcatraz – be sure to check out the videos that SyFy created with a FLIR.

Well, sadly it appears I called it right -

"New York, NY – February 23, 2010 – On Wednesday, March 3, join Jason, Grant and the rest of the TAPS team as the Ghost Hunterscelebrate their triumphant 100th episode with a LIVE audience from the legendary Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center.  From 9-11pm, the team will present their first-ever investigation at Alcatraz as well as take a look back at the most shocking and spine-chilling moments the hit series has caught on tape over the past five seasons."

It looks like we get to see "Run Dude", Sheetie, Grant's FLIR reflection, and the collar tugs yet again … oh joy !

Wonder if my sister and Ross are going to go to the live event, since they live in Piermont and could either drive or take a bus in maybe, but if they were, i think she would have mentioned it.

Well, it should be interesting in any case, cause Alcatraz has quite a history.

This show has been a joke. Just wasted almost 90 minutes of my life I wont get back watching a GE and Syfy commercial. Lived in SF in 70s and 80s and taken family and friends to Alcatraz several times and never heard of paranormal activty and neither did anyone else I know. The focus on Stroud is really lazy. This place was a prison for 29 years and they only mentioned 1 other prisoner for 1 minute. Big waste of time proving its for the money.

The live online aftershow is even worse -

The biggest laugh I got so far was when Josh asks the Techmangler about some bumblebee tablet and Steve strings together words that don't even make sense … he has no clue what the thing is or what it's supposed to do. Laughing

Sounded like they had maybe 50 people in the live audience

Yes, the focus on Stroud was lazy. And dumb. He didn't die at Alcatraz and had no birds there. He kept his birds while serving time at Leavenworth before being transferred to Alcatraz. He was released from Alcatraz in 1959 and sent to a Federal medical prison in Missouri, where he died in 1963. Information courtesy of Wikipedia.

The official Alcatraz website sez "Alcatraz is most famous for the 29 years it operated as a U.S. penitentiary.  This is due in no small part to Hollywood movies which have created their own not particularly accurate Alcatraz, with underground tunnels and haunted dungeons and other flights of fantasy."

SyFy also said the audience could only be from New Jersey, New York or Connecticut like I said in post #2 but a woman from New Hampshire asked a question. Wonder if she was a friend or employee of their inn and how many others got in instead of those that should have.

JCarton, there probably were quite a few. Cause unless they checked everyone's driver's license at the door, these people could get in .I'll have to ask my sister if they went to this deal. She's in Piermont, not to far from Nyack. When I went up there for vacation several years ago, we drove around the area and they showed me Helen Hayes house in Nyack.Area is pretty in the summer, but forget the winter yuck.

By the way, what is a bumblebee tablet? Guess I'll have to look it up, as I have never heard of one.

I couldn't remember much about Stroud. There were alot of prisioners there, some famous, some not. Sorry it was just a SYFY-GE commercial. The place has a lot of history, going back to the Civil War and beyond.

They should have checked out the showers, since I heard Al Capone would sometimes go there and play his banjo. There was also the famous attempt at a prison break I think in the late 1930s or 1940s.

I first heard about it being haunted on Unsolved Mysteries with Robert Stack, back in the 1980s, early 90s.If it was haunted before then, it just might be people didn't make a big deal about what was going on.Only here in recent years has all these paranormal shows really taken off.If my sister recorded it, I'll still watch the show, since I'll never get to go to the place.

Cool Hey I was just over at the TAPS Revealed forum on Yuku, and apparently you all aren't the only ones who think this was a waste of time.So sad really cause they could have made this one really great.

One of the posters said they might as well have waved their bare keisters at the camera for a keister kissing by their fans, and it was a waste of time, just an ego stroke for jay and Grant. Say, wasn't that something the Knights Templars were accused of,butt kissing? Just one of many accusations. In the old witch trials, mention was also made of kissing the devil's butt at the witch's sabbath. Wow, I guess the fans did make a deal with the devils, in this case Jay and Grant.

HollyDolly. If you read my post you would have seen you had to apply for tickets not just show up at the door. You had to fill out a form with your address and they mailed you a letter. From SyFy "Attendees: Printing out the web page will not grant you admission to this event.  You must have your printed confirmation letter to attend."

I am surprised you know nothing on Stroud since he was one of the most famous along with Capone and machine gun kelly and they made a well known but inaccurate movie about him.  http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/website/faqs-alcatraz-history.aspx

I lurked for a while over at the Taps18forum during the broadcast – Hardly any discussion of the show at all, except for some comments about the lazer thingy.  Big yawns all around.

Sorry bout that.In regards to Stroud, i always thought he did his work on birds when in Alcatraz, and did not know he didn't die there. All I know is mainly from the movies, not from reading about him. I know more about Al Capone maybe, because everyone talks about Al. My late father grew up as a kid in Hot Springs,Arkansas in the 1920s and 30s before the family moved back to Milwaukee. When we visited his aunts there years ago, daddy would point out the hotel Al used to stay in and a few other things about him

and some of the other gangsters that would go there. My dad and Uncle Tom as kids were given dimes by John D.Rockerfeller during one of his visits there to Hot Springs. It apparently was a habit of his to do so, and it represented the first dime he ever made. I asked daddy if they saved them, and he said no.Instead they bought some candy  with them.

Agree on both points Bobarino.

Watched a bit last night to see Alcatraz.     I was a bit surprised that they never mentioned, at least in the times I was watching, about the Indians occupying it for a few years in the late 60's early 70's.     I toured the Rock in the early 80's and you could still see damage from the occupation.     I thought they might try to contact some Indian spirits.

I was in the Providence mall a while back and thought I saw Jason.     Then I saw on his twitter that it was in fact him.    Damn I would like to have asked him how he can explain how they have done 170 odd investigations in supposedly haunted locations with no verifiable proof.    An opportunity missed!
