Please excuse me if someone has already posted about this.

Yes, it's true folks! With all the $$$$ our two boys have made, they have purchased an inn in New Hampshire and will soon be filling up the rooms with TAPS fans:

Note also that we are going to be favored with a bunch of new episodes in 2009. So, like it or not, looks like GH has become quite the cash cow for Sci-Fi. Now, if only they could make the show interesting again…

Ghost Hosts To Open Inn

Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, hosts of SCI FI Channel's Ghost Hunters, told reporters that they are going into the bed-and-breakfast business–but in a well-known haunted inn, natch.

"We have a place that's near to our hearts that we're trying to actually purchase," Hawes told reporters during a press weekend in Estes Park, Colo., over the weekend. (The news conference took place in another haunted locale made famous in a Ghost Hunters episode: The Stanley Hotel, inspiration for Stephen King's The Shining.)

Hawes and Grant–who founded the Atlantic Paranormal Society, or TAPS–said they are in the process of acquiring the Spalding Inn in Whitefield, New Hampshire.

"[It] is a haunted inn, and we're just getting ready to finalize everything on it," Hawes said, adding, "We're going to open it back up. It was a very well-known inn; it just needs some work, and we're going to have to fix it up and open it back up and go from there."

Will the well-known ghostbusters turn the inn into a theme park?

"No," they answer in unison.

"It's already got its own reputation," Hawes said, adding: "We spend so much time in New Hampshire as it is. We're always up there camping and staying there with our families. … This opportunity opened up, and I stayed there years and years in the past, the wife and I both had personal experiences. [I] saw a child run down the hall, and, there were no children there, so it was just very interesting what happened that we're able to acquire it."

Ghost Hunters returns with 25 new episodes in early 2009. –Patrick Lee, News Editor

As I just mentioned in another post, I wonder if each guest room will come equipped with a KII meter in a drawer the way they put Gideon bibles in or on the nightstands. Now that would be a hoot! Laughing

It will be interesting to see just how haunted this place becomes – I can't seem to find anything written about it.

Good point, Dr. Pete. Maybe it will be a cross between a regular B & B and one of those houses that are set up as Halloween attractions. Wink

Each room will probably come equipped with a KII meter and instead of the famous Gideon Bible will have a copy of Jason's book. Laughing

In truth, I don't fault them for this business venture as there's nothing odd about taking some of their $$$ and investing it in a business like this. But I think any of the die hard fans who think if they book a room there will be greeted by Jay or Grant will be sadly disappointed.

I was asked on the TAPS forum what their motivation would be to fake evidence. I told them that the new Inn would be motivation enough. Imagine what would happen if the show when under just after they buy an Inn. It was not long after that post that I was banned.

Thanks for posting this. I read about this a few days ago and forgot to repost. As soon as I read this I realized that Jason and Grant are going to stand united in their ventures…. whatever those ventures might be.

It depends on what it is and how many times you ask it.

I suppose it would depend on the question and how you frame it. I've seen someone ask a rational, but slightly skeptical, question and have the mods immediatly jump in and berate the poster for not putting it in the threads they reserve for the few skeptic posters they have. I've never posted on the TAPS board myself but I do lurk as I find it an interesting social experiment in blind belief.

A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.

Audible Click, you are right, it was quite interesting from a social standpoint, it seemed as if they hoped that by being a sycophant that JorG would grace them by replying to a post. I'm not judging mind you, but it did seem to permiate the forum and squash any disention.

Lately the mods over there have been allowing some really negative stuff that would have gotten someone immediately banned outright.  Esp. in the Live Halloween show thread.  Guess they figured that it would be impossible to bann so many people at one time!

Of course the honeymoon for skeptics didn't last long.  I simply refused to comment in that thread, but just decided to watch it unfold as it was a lesson in blind belief.  Even when confronted with excellent evidence to the contrary.

Those boards are a study of how much power a TV show can exert over people.  They keep denying they are a cult, but they come pretty close to one.

And the personal attacks are vicious.  I've kept one from one of their more infamous mods that was written to me at the time of the Manson mess.  Very vindictive and immature.  IF I ever run into Jason as I do attend some events like Chiller Theatre and MonsterMania, I am going to pull out the post from that admin and ask Jay is this what he wants representing TAPS?  It would be interesting to see his reaction.

Oubliette,

If you do confront, let us know. It seems to me they've been hiding behind these people for quite some time.

Oubliette-  What happened at the Manson investigation? What is the 'mess'? I'm sorry, while I do manage to catch most eps, my life is quite busy and I missed it. All I know is there were some pretty creepy EVPs caught. Thanks.
