The door noise that Kris & Kris heard was kind of bugging me. At first I thought it could have just been the door swelling or something like that. I went to the museum's web site and there is a nice shot of the door.

You have to click on "Hauntings" and scroll down. You can see that there is a door before the main entrance. I have it paused now (thanks Tivo!) Is it possible that when Kris saw something move from right of center to left-that could have been the other door moving then perhaps the doorknob hitting the wall? I know Grant said it was locked, and there's a handy shot of someone turning the deadbolt-but I don't necessarily believe that shot was taken before the night started. Any thoughts?

There's nothing astonishing about the door getting unlocked. They make it sound like no one could have unlocked the door, but it was perfectly easy to unlock it from the inside. We have no idea when the door was unlocked. Production staff could have done it earlier in the evening without thinking twice.

The shadow on the door has a pretty definite explanation. While Krystin Gartland is doing her stand-up interview, the camera guy moves slightly to the right and pans the camera left to keep her in view. That makes her shadow (cast on the door by the camera light) move to the left, just as Kris Williams describes. If there were something else there, she should have described two shadows!

So all we have left is a rattling noise that sounds like someone trying the door. There was no camera out there, and they didn't do GHI's trick of looking for a heat signature with FLIR, so it could have been anyone checking to see if they could get in.

So was the locking shot taken afterwards? Probably, but it doesn't matter to me.

I just happened upon your website and I have to tell you that I live in Buffalo, NY and I never miss Ghost Hunters and that's how I found out about The Iron ISland Museum.  It is about 15 minutes from where I live but before TAPS I had never heard of it.  Last Saturday, me, my sister, my daughter and son when on
a ghost hunt there and it was very very interesting to say the least.  It was led by a reknowned Physic Michelle Hall and she had all kinds of ghost hunting equipment, (i.e. K2 Meters, EVP Recorders, cameras, Thermal imagers, dowsing rods,
emf recorders, etc.. We each took turns using these things in all the rooms and
we got all kinds of responses from all the equipment. We got many images in our
own digital cameras also.  I must say we spent 5 hours there and there is no doubt in our minds the place is haunted.  I will definately be going back soon.

Thats awesome that you had some good personal experiences.  I'm still waiting myself…good luck in your future investigations!!!

P.S   Remember to be critical, some things aren't always what they my seem i.e an ORB can be dust an EVP can be someones stomach growling etc.

Hipkat started a new thread on this, figured I'd reply here to bring it back over.

The sheet over the door was most likely a piece of dubatine placed there by the production crew to block out things like street lights, passing headlights,  a motion actived light on the house across the street etc.

Which brings up an interesting problem -

IF these types of lights ARE coming through the front door normally, then they could very well be the source of some of the original ghost reports. By covering the glass in the door, production has made a material change in the  location itself.

My bad, I didin't see this thread.

The reason I pointed out the sheets is becasue they haven't done it before and that's obvious, because they see things "blocking out the light" all the time

HipKat ~  Not to worry.  It took me a while to find the thread myself as it was so long ago.  I figured you hadn't seen the previous posts so you could read them as well.  As far as the sheets, other than ESP, I believe they used them at the lighthouse in the moving chair scene.  I could be wrong though.
