Cool Hi All. I was checking my emails here at work( got my own office yahoo) and got one from Weird New Jersey. They mentioned that TAPS and their show Ghost Hunters  ,had been to  New Jersey, to the Verona/Cedar Grove area. Why, Because they had been at the Essex County Hospital Complex.

It has been featured in Weird New Jersey, and i guess recently on Ghost Adventures.

Only on the TAPS episode, Ghost Hunters calls the place The Garden State Asylum.

Quote from Weird New Jersey" Of course ,there is no such place as The Garden State Asylum and never has been. The episode was actually shot at the Essex County Hospital Complex in Verona/Cedar Grove."

Now comes the interesting part"Viewers should be wary. This is by no means the first  time that Ghosthunters have fictionalized their supposedly "real" paranormal investigations. For more information on their credentials visit SciFake.com"

I can't check out SciFake.com here, but will later at the library since I need to return some books.

But I'm curious what Weird New Jersey is refering to?  Now I can see when doing investigations of peoples homes that are shown on tv , they might change the family's last name or the name of the town to try and protect their privacy. But if you investigate say the San Augustine lighthouse, The Whaley House or Alcatraz

for example, why would you change the name?

I know that MTV's Fear when they investigated  St.Agnes Hospital ,changed the name of the place to St.Agnes, but on several websites they gave the correct name to the mental hospital that particular episode was filmed at. If I recall, the building they filmed at was part of a complex of buildings, some still in use, so I guess that was why they changed the name.

Also at Weird New Jersey under news, they mentioned that Hugh Laurie and the "House" crew were doing some filming at the Greystone Asylum, where I understand Woody Gutherie spent some time.

T.A.P.S. Goes Ghost Hunting at Overbrook Asylum
On April 29, 2009 the popular SCI FI Channel show Ghost Hunters will be airing an episode entitled "Garden State Asylum aka the Essex County Sanatorium & Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.  ."

"This is also not the first time that Essex County has rented out the Overbrook facility to a ghost hunting TV program. In the summer of 2008 the Essex County Hospital played host to the Travel Channel show Extreme Ghost Adventures, in which a group of "ghosthunters" stalked around the abandoned hospital in search of apparitions."

So, are J & G going to claim that Essex County called them in? Be interesting to see what story-line they use.  Wonder how much it cost to rent it?  AND in a few months, you too, can investigate the Asylum with a member of TAPS!

Wasn't it there GA caught their (in)famous "shadow/ghost hand"?

From what I remember it was a pretty cool location, atleast to shot ghost shows in. :)

I actually miss GA a bit, they might not know how to even spell science, but damn it's good entertainment… unlike the lacklustre, formulaic, repetitious  GH who don't even seem care anymore. Where is the passion, TAPS? Left it at the bank?

GA might be stupid at times, but man they are stupid with a passion.

When in doubt… figure it out!

I took a look at the SciFake site.  Not quite sure what to make of it.  Currently, they seem to be focusing on a couple of sex-offenders in paranormal groups that are connected with TAPS (in name only, I think).  Another is some guy who sold tickets to some show, again, connected with TAPS (in name only, I think).  It's, um…an interesting site.  Some of their debunking/hoax evidence is ok.  Some isn't.  Overall, I didn't bookmark it…if that tells you anything.  Innocent

The guy who runs it claims that he and Jason have talked several times on the phone.  If true, to me it was just Jason's attempts to get the focus on TAPS and the ticket scandal re-directed.

Now it's mostly concerned about child sex-offenders, an important topic for sure, but way off the focus of that website.  It has gotten probably as far from its original intention as one can get.

Yes, certainly not bookmark worthy at all.

So what is the story of the TAPS Ticket Scandal? When I do watch TAPS, the episodes my sister tapes for me, it does seem as though they aren't as passionate  as when the show started, which is a shame,

as why even bother any more except for the paycheck?

The people or person behind the Sci Fake site, also has one called Its Haunted.com. There are some things of interest to be found.
