What the heck was it doing last night when all the lights were flashing on and off at the same time…it wasn't going up in sequence it was just that all lights would come on and go off _at the same time_ That looked more like a diagnostic test than anything else!

The Manson K-II session was so fake it reeks. All questions (bar one) were deliberately asked to get a yes response and 2 flashes.
Now the K-II has a thumb switch which is overly sensitive to the slightest movement. Breathe on it and the K-II then goes into a reboot sequence which is – 2 flashes. Every yes question Chris Flemming asked was answered by a reboot caused by thumb movement, not a ghost. I timed it against mine and it is a perfect match.
This switch weakness in the K-II was later addressed by either a modified switch or a coin jammed against the plastic pressure pad. But by then they figured out that the K-II can be set off by radio transmissions and the monkey business continues.
Well I thought it was rather interesting, but you maybe right. I don't know about you guys, but I found the evps much more interesting.

Need to be refreshed here since it's been a long time since I watched the episode, but weren't the EVPs something they should have gotten in the actual building where the murders took place…not some place down the street? As far as the K-II, there's not really any "maybe right" left about it :)

Meant to ask -
We know that Jason fiddles with his flashlight to find the sweet spot where Casper can turn it on or off.
Did you notice anything like that on the KII where you could stick the coin in a sort of "balenced" position.
Not with a new unit. Theoretically after a while the switch will wear and the contacts will become more unreliable but I don't think it's something that can be fine tuned like the flashlight trick.

And…would _someone_ please tell me when it's okay to relax my grip?

Yeah it actually takes some force to switch the K-II on. The problem though is not only in the switch, it's fatigue in the thumb after holding it down for a while. One tends to relax their grip and bingo, the lights flash.
The usual suspects starred in the Manson episode. Those that used the K-II were Chris Flemming, Jason, Grant, and Dave Tango. Is Tango that naive? Or is he a faker too…… And he's a GHA leader along with Steve? The mind boggles.

What about my question up in #20…is there a diagnostic sequence that produces that flashing light pattern…if it's actually detecting things, it should light up in a row, one after another even if quickly, not just have all the lights blink in unison am I right?

I haven't seen the episode in question yet but no that's not a diagnostic sequence. You can do it if you jitter the switch with your thumb. But from your description it sounds like a strong pulsing signal. I'll have a look a bit later and comment further.
