I can't wait for this one -

Wonder if Kris's research will turn up anyone but Jason who ever said this place was haunted ?

Loosen up those flashlights and stuff pennies in your KII's … Who will be the first to spot a full-bodied appirition ( off camera of course ) ?

Be sure to wear your flip-flops and beware of flying glass and ironing boards.

My research tells me that the Spaulding Inn is built atop a quartz mountain with a limestone foundation.
All the construction on the Inn was done with iron nails.
A river runs uphill beside the Inn, high power transmission lines run above the Inn and the parking lot was once an Indian burial ground.
A little known fact I uncovered (one that has been lost in the fog of history) was that a major Civil War battle was fought nearby.
My research has been as complete and intense as Kris would do.

How can they not find a spookies at this place.

Maybe Jason should stop eating green olives so he can see the supposed spirits and thus help the others to document their existence.

I'm still searching for proof that the Spaulding Inn has ever experienced any paranormal activity.  I even watched a very boring 11 minute commercial from the 1980s for the Inn and at no point was anything about the paranormal mentioned.

I don't think they will find high EMF – after all, a fear cage is a poor tourist attraction and an excuse for people seeing ghosts that arent there.  – and electricians to fix it cost almost as much as plumbers !

No Indian burial grounds either … since that's where the expanded ( and newly haunted ) TAPS gift and dubious electronic gizmo shop will go.  KII's available for rent at daily and weekly rates.

Pay for the expert analysis and the recorder rental is free … EVP's guaranteed with a 3 night stay (Mon-Thur only )

You know, there actually used to be a time when I looked forward to watching the "big" season-ender's.  It was fun.  Now, I have to admit, I am dreading this one.

Watching a one hour commercial for their property just seems so wrong on so many levels.  I'm saddened that no one close to the group was able to just sit them down and say "Guys…this is wrong.  Don't do it.  It's pretentious, self-serving, and lessens the credibility of the entire field of the paranormal.  I know, I know, you think you are doing it because you believe that's what the fans want.  If fans want to see your new property, then feature it on your website.  If you want it on television, buy ad time like everyone else.  To air this show, at best is childish, and at worst is utterly insulting the intelligence of your fan base."

So…no one could do that?  No one can give the plumbers a little help when they are flat out wrong?  Apparently, the answer is no.  Alicat found a great link in her post "It's All About The Ratings." that pretty much sums up everything.

And what are we left with?  There's blood in the water and we're the sharks.  When the "Collargate"/Halloween special aired, everyone went crazy.  And rightfully so.  This upcoming show will cause an uproar as well.  Not as big, but it will be bloodier.  I have to believe that many people are just waiting to explode on this show.  They're sharpening their knives, picking out good sniper locations, and just waiting for it.  Just waiting…

It's going to be ugly.  I can't remember a time where people who watch GH were literally waiting to pounce on a new show.  Not every idea is a good one.  Jason and Grant want to surround themselves with "yes" men, well, then this is the result.

My only remaining advice for J&G?  "Boys, after that show airs…turn off your computers for a couple of weeks.  I don't think you have any idea on what you're in for…"

@ Revenant:

I have to disagree with you. I don't think there'll be much of an uproar. The USS F*U has already sailed. The fans still watching and believing are not going to be put off by an infomercial – they won't even get it. Everyone else will just shake their heads and think, "How much lower?"

Even here, the tone has changed. We don't have GH discussions anymore. We've become the Dead-Horse Society – Everyone bring a stick; pick a topic; and wail away. Now we simply expect to have fresh meat every Wednesday night.

Of course GH, Pilgrim, SciFi, and anyone else associated with this programming are to blame. Yet, I guess it doesn't matter because apparently ratings are strong.

No. This too shall pass. And the after life will go on as before.

I….I'm thinking.

I have to agree and disagree with various parts of the above :) A lot will depend upon what actually happens in the episode. Remember, it's not TAPS doing the investigation from what I can tell…"blame" can easily be deflected to GHI. How can you blame Jason and Grant if they aren't on camera and GHI comes on and finds all sorts of things? Let's let it play out. I can't help but think that they are going to find things, but let's see what happens and go from there. Assuming a worst case investigation, whatever happens will probably cause less of an uproar and mutiny than Collargate, though I'm sure there would be a few more fans who open their eyes a bit wider.

The analogy above about horses and sticks doesn't quite apply because the horse is very much alive…just as you indicate when you mention about life will go on, strong ratings etc. All signs of a healthy horse.

We are also not beating a singular horse. Every Wednesday a new one comes out of the chute, other than references (like I just made above lol) we aren't beating Collargate still.

Since GH does have such high ratings and since so many people do take it as the Gospel of Paranormal Investigating, we have an obligation to point out what is going wrong. There needs to be some place that can be found by the fans who start to question what they see. How many posts have we had in here by former fans who have said in almost as many words that their eyes have been opened and were glad to find this place. If we had dismissed the show and didn't discuss these happenings, those fans would have had a harder time finding these forums…if at all.

It's a herd of diseased horses, not just one. I really would like to save as many of them as we can, but some will have to be put out of their misery :) If there comes a horseman who has promise, I'll lead him to the trough! I really DID get a hopeful rise when they took Hannah's advice and started sprinkling the flour around…hopes that were immediately dashed when I saw how they proceeded with it, though.

If they do something admirable, I'll comment on that as well as when they do something that just makes me roll my eyes or yell at the TV :) There have been some one-liners here dismissing what has been seen on the show, definitely. But there have also been thought-filled discussions by a great many people about some of the anomalies seen.

I always believed that silence gives assent. So, to ignore the opportunity to create a living reference of the discussions and counterarguments of the suspicious happenings on the show so that visitors can find them by searching is to give silent approval to the methods and findings of GH. That isn't something I can do.

Hmmm, looking back I should have probably posted this under "Beyond TAPS" :)

Why don't we change the description of GH from docu-soap or docu-drama to docu-comedy and accept it for what it is.
The GH Circus supplies us with clowns every Wednesday night.
We have box seats and some popcorn.
Set back and enjoy and have a laugh.
The next day we'll talk about it and we'll either raise an eyebrow or have a chuckle about it.

IMO you'll see more serious investigating by watching 'The Ghost and Mr. Chicken'.

It doesn't count for much, but that's my look at it.

May I point out that most well intentioned investigators who now have a successful TV show probably have little control over their investigations.

Once you sign a contract, you sign away your soul. Whatever the ad man says the viewer polls indicate the show needs to increase viewers will be written into a script.
If a show lacks what the viewers want the producers will (without the permission of the investigative team) add either at the time of filming or later in the studio.
The team will follow the script or else they will be sued or their show cancelled.

Either way I think few paranormal personalities would dare force the issue of their ego driven personal preference or moral ethics and risk legal reprecussions.

Why not direct the criticism and anger at the producers rather the investigators?

The investigators are no less at fault. If they don't have the moral fortitude to take the high ground and only see the money then they deserve our criticism and anger.

By the way, J & G are producers so in either case the criticism and anger are directed at the appropriate parties.

I have been searching also for ANY report of paranormal activity and found nada.  Thanks for watching the video now I don't have to. Smile

It is amazing how many commercial venues they have been investigating, and what a coincidence, months later, you can fork over the bucks and investigate the same site with a TAPS member.

In several interviews after they bought the Inn, Jason declared it was haunted; so how truly funny would it be if no evidence is found?  Wishful thinking.

Seems too beg a little for evidence, huh? Come on PLEASE folks.

Grant Wilson posted this on the TAPS board on November 5, 2008:

Hey all, Sorry I haven't been on in so long. I have just re-found my password! yaaaayyy

Now, as you may or may not know, Jason and I have purchased The Spalding Inn, in Whitefield, New Hampshire.

We both spend a lot of time up in that area and always thought it would be cool to go in on a vacation home together. Well, this place fell in our lap. The place is amazing and the price was amazing. So, after much deliberation and hard work, we now own it.

On the initial walk through, all four of us, Jay, myself and our lovely wives, felt that the place was a bit odd but we chalked it up to the quietness of the area and the fact that the electric wasn't turned on yet. When the sun is shining and the lights are on, it is a gorgeous place.

The interesting part is that when Jay and I were doing our college lecture circuit, we made mention of the inn and more than a few people came up to us afterwards and mentioned that they had had paranormal experiences in the inn. This really came as a surprise as it was not our intention to buy a haunted inn.

As we were up there doing plumbing and painting, etc, many people stopped by unannounced to tell us how much they love the inn or about their experiences. It had become apparent that we had inadvertently purchased a haunted inn.

So, now begins the long process of determining if the place is actually haunted or not. I am hoping it isn't, because it would be nice to have a lovely place to just kick back and relax, but then again, it would be kind of cool if it was.

So, that is how we came to own this inn.

If you or someone you know has had an experience at this inn PLEASE let us know so we can try to determine if this place is haunted or not.

And we hope to have you all up there to hang out soon! Ghosts or no ghosts, lol.

Thanks!

"The TAPS teams is joined by the GHI team (Ghost Hunters International) in a joint investigation of the Spalding Inn located in Whitefield, New Hampshire. The Spalding Inn is said to have been purportedly haunted by the ghost of child roaming around the hallways of the inn. Other claims include a shadowy figure that also haunts and watches people on the grounds from the windows."

More shadowdy people only Jason sees, chases, and the camera never, ever gets a shot of.  Plus the girl ghost he has been talking about in interviews. Sigh.

Oh…now wait a minute…long process? How can they then make such instant declarations in various places with the flimsiest of evidence?

Cameras going off:

Need to look into the exact models they have since different models may act differently as far as power on/off. The sound "ding" that we heard twice is exactly the sound mine also makes. BUT mine only makes it when the switch is manually turned off. I turned mine on, and pulled power to it…it simply went off, no sound. The sound was made when I plugged it BACK IN, but not when power was cut to it.

Does anyone else have one to test?
