Hey guys, I have been a prowler for awhile here. A lot of things you guys say make sense, even if I don't always understand the technical terms or the equipment you guys talk about. In other words, what I am trying to say is that I do not have ghost hunting experience or even have had a paranormal experience. Ew, that was such a lame introduction….Anways

I found this article roaming around http://www.cracked.com, here is the link to the article: http://www.cracked.com/funny-3039-ghost-tv/

Even tho I do not like the stance in the article that ghost do not exsist; my real question is: The picture under what they say is a EMF detector, kinda looks like a K-II to me but I am not exctly sure? I'm sure you lovely people know and will set me straight. Smile

Hi nicki_d, and welcome.

Thanks for pointing out the Cracked article. I loved it! I particularly liked the script template.

Yes, that's a K-II, but that's OK. The K-II is an EMF detector, although you'd never think so from watching Ghost Hunters. The only difference between the K-II and, say, a Lutron EMF detector is that the Lutron has a dull-looking LCD readout, while the K-II has the colorful blinking lights. The rigamirole about Persinger isn't quite right, either, since I don't think Persinger's fields would even show up on one of these meters. They're very faint.

There's a bit more difference than that. The K-II has a wider EMF bandwidth up into VLF and is also a wide band RF/radio field strength meter to about 2 GHz. Which is why it makes for so many ambiguous readings.

Forgot to mention that bit. But it remains, in the end, an EMF detector. :)

That's right. EMF = Entity Manifestation Finder(as used in ghost hunters). Smile

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yes, the only reason I recognized it as K-II was because of the set of lights at the top. I watch (or rather listen because I use it as background noise at work) to Ghost Hunters alot and I did not realize it was basically an EMF detector. Thanks for clearing that up

Side Note: I got turned onto this site by reading the discussion boards under one of the Ghot Hunter episodes on Hulu. I thought, there is a whole site that is questioning GH?? I have to check it out! I've been addicted ever since. Wink

Would have been better if they remembered to jam a penny into the K2.
