In the last two months my family have been to two events at the Belcourt castle:

(1) A ghost tour – this was led by a small RI paranormal group (not a part of the TAPS family) along with Mrs Tinney and a long time friend of hers.    The friend has an interest in the paranormal and talked about her travels to "haunted" spots throughout the world.    Then Mrs Tinney talked about what she has experienced around the Castle.     The crowd was the largest they have ever had, over 130 people, so we were unfortunatelysplit into three groups.     The paranormal group told about what they had experienced in the library.    The standard noises and shadows.    I asked if they had any evidence they could post on the web but they said they were not that sophisticatedyet but were aiming to be.    I also asked if they investigated in the dark and they said yes and no and explained that they did investigated in a "natural environment" – light in the day and dark at night and had experienced in both.    The most interesting part of the tour was with Mrs Tinney in the chapel.     She said that seeing the monk walk by was her first experience shortly after she married and moved into the castle with her husbands family.    At dinner that night she asked if anything strange happens in the chapel and her in-laws all laughed and said she must have seen the monk.    She said in the 50+ years she has lived there she only saw the monk around 10 times.     The old (age and length of friendship) friend talked about her experiences in the room with the suits of armor.    She says this was Mr Tinney'sfavorite room and that he does enjoy watching tours in this room in one of two chairs.    The chairs were in a corner and she said for most tours there will be a cold spot in one of them.    She got two people to check them with everyone backs turned and sure enough there was a cold spot on one of them.    I checked it out and identified the one which was definitely colder about where a person would be seated.     I looked around for a draft or some other natural and couldn't find one.    Strange.     Overall this was interesting night.

(2) A murder mystery at the mansion.    A small local theater group puts on a murder mystery in the Castle.     Think live Clue with us wandering around the Castle asking the actors questions.     A very enjoyable night but I also used it to check out the "haunted" spots.    I checked the chairs but did not feel any cold spots.    Saw and heard nothing out of the ordinary.     What did strike me was the changes to the place in the month between our visits.    Many of the less valuable relics had sales tags on them and the armor room was rearranged and it seem to me that some was gone.

Thank you for that great report. It must have been really interesting to hear Mrs.Tinney talk about all that has happend there during the time she has lived in BelCourt.Did she say if the monk she saw resembled the statute of a monk they have?I wonder if he  was transparent or more solid looking.

Also, I heard or read something about the suit or suits of armour that is haunted. But Not sure if the suit of armour actually got out of it's display area and walked around, or if it was just the helmet part, which encased the wearer's head would turn.

Interesting that this paranormal group had experiences there both in darkness and in daylight.I've heard of ghosts being seen in broad daylight, which is a point that some people have pointed out in regards to TAPS,GH,which is why not also investigate during the day, especially at some place that seems to have more daylight sightings than night ones.

The murder mystery sounded like fun. It's sad they are selling some of the items from this lovely place. But I suppose it is a way to keep Belcourt going.
