Rounding out their visit to the British Isles, the team heads to Rushen Castle on the Isle of Man. The castle was built around 1200 and was damaged during the short siege by Robert the Bruce in 1313 when he took it over.  Though damaged, it was rebuilt by William Montacute before the midpoint of the 13th century. Or, was that 1300s, thus the 14th century? (It was the 14th century, by the way)

The castle repeatedly was taken and retaken by Scottish and English forces throughout its early history. Finally just after 1400 the Isle of Man (and thus the castle) were under the control of the Stanley family (prior to their moving to Estes Park and founding a haunted hotel) and remained thus for over 300 years (almost longer than the US has been a country according to some recent GHI research)

The castle served also as a prison and an insane asylum which should greatly add to the potential hauntings.

There is also supposed to be a White Lady here (what castle would be complete without one of those?) This White Lady is supposed to be ghost of Margaret Ineqane who, with her son, were burned alive for sorcery, after which a short trial was held. The pair were imprisoned in the castle late in the year 1617. They were supposedly the last to be executed on the IOM for witchcraft and a plaque was installed in the town square.

Well, at least we have another castle investigation, but other than that, I expect the same old same old. "What was that?" [Scott] "Holy @#$%" [Kris and/or Susan] "Did you see that?" [Susan] "I feel ill" [Susan] "I just got touched!" [Joe] "Yeah, right!" [The Viewing Audience]

Then it's off to New Zealand for an investigation of the Riccarton Racecourse Hotel in Christchurch. The ghost of Donald Fraser who met a violent end thanks to a shotgun in 1933 is said to wander the halls of the hotel seeking to avenge his murder. No one claimed a 300 pound reward for information leading to the murderer so Don's spirit still can't rest.

A photo of the hotel complete with faces and other things that have to be paranormal can be found here: http://www.nzghosts.co.nz/

Would it have been that hard to put a recording thermometer next to that new device?  A temperature trace would go a long way toward verifying an actual temperature fluctuation and let us see that something was really taking place.

Instead, like going from a numeric EMF detector to one that just flashes lights, we've gone from actual temperature readings to blinking lights to appeal to the dumbed-down visual-minded masses.

Just got around to watching the episode. The castle footsteps were interesting. And the subtitles for the New Zealand guy… hilarious! Here in Australia we often nag them for not being able to pronounce their I's properly. They love their fush and chups.

OD'd on EMF
