This week the team heads to Castle Rising in Norfolk to investigate reports of a spectral she-wolf. The she-wolf is rumored to be the reincarnation of Queen Isabella, the wife of Edward II (1307-1327) Isabella was a French Princess who was sent to England at the age of 12 for an arranged marriage to help calm things down between the two countries. They had four children but the relationship turned ugly and to the point where Isabella, on a trip to France, had an affair with Roger Mortimer with whom she plotted to depose Edward. They did, finally having him murdered.

She became regent for her son, Edward III but lost popularity over continued wars with Scotland. Edward III deposed Mortimer in 1330 and had him executed. Edward would or could not give the order for his mother to be executed so she lived out the rest of her life until 1358, imprisoned at Rising Castle.

During the early years of her marriage, she helped the weak Edward II rule, and quite firmly by which she came to be called the She-wolf of France.

Some stories have her becoming deranged toward the end of her life and she would roam the battlements wailing at what had become of her and of Mortimer's death. After she died, legends begin to rise that her ghost had taken on the form of a huge white wolf which would appear at night and stalk the castle, howling.

The full moon is the time to see her, and it will be interesting to see if our friends at GHI will make sure that the moon is in the right phase when they investigate.

Will Joe get touched?

Will Scott get touched?

Will Kris do anything useful?

Will Joe see something?

Will Scott see the same thing but with the eyes that he must have in the back of his head?

Quite frankly, I'm rooting for the She-wolf…

Nice research Kris.  Promised in marriage to Henry II?  He died in 1189.  Try Edward II.

And in addition to Kris' great research.  Susan had the wrong century.  Or she confused hundreds with century.  Instead of this taking place in the 13th century, it was the 14th…or the 1300s.  Very sloppy.

Seriously?  Did they not watch Braveheart?

Yes, they did, but they confused it with a much earlier Peter O'Toole/Katherine Hepburn movie.  There are actually a few parallels so I can see their confusion…well, not really.

They may have seen Braveheart, but may not have even seen the connection.  These people do not impress me in the least with their ability to go off script.

That was The Lion in Winter, the sequel to one of my favorite movies Becket.  Those events don't take place within 200 years of one another.  That's like the whole existence of the USA!  (in my best Kris voice).

Seriously though, if you can't even get history correct, after multiple takes and editing nonetheless, how are we to believe anything these people put forth?

Well, if it were Kris saying it, it would be more like "Holy ****, that's like even longer then (sic) we've been a country!"

That's exactly the point…you can't trust them on stuff they can verify and which is known, how can you trust them to get the rest of it right…the things that are so unsettled still.

While I had read that Isabella haunted Castle Rising, i don't recall anything about  it being in the form of a white wolf. She is also supposed to haunt some manor house as well, but can't recall the name right know.Edward II is said to haunt Berkley or Barnard Castle, his screams echo through the place due to the manner in which legend says he was murderd.Understand there has been some debate amongst historians about the poker in the behind method of execution, so as to not leave a mark on the body, and in reference to his gay activities ,especially with his favourite, Piers Gaveston, who was also executed, though not in this fashion.

Gaveston is said to also haunt the place where he died.

Don't see how they  could get things so wrong.Read a book people. The historical facts are there in dozens of books and chronicles of the time housed in british archives.

Good country to pick for investigations. There's Watton Priory with the Nun of Watton, which was a scandal at the time back in the middle ages, Thornton Abbey where the abbot was accused or practicing the black arts and walled up alive, Lumley Castle, Tower of London,etc.etc. all good places to check out.But for crying out loud get the history of the places right. After all, some of us actually READ about such places and know something, unlike the  goobers who watch Jersey Shore and other such train wrecks.

She is said to haunt Nottingham Castle, too, in the same way.  I find VERY few references to her taking the form of a wolf, though.

Indeedy! I enjoy sharing this fact with friends and family.  I saw Braveheart for the first time a few months ago (I'm reallllly behind in my classic movies) and I shouted at the TV "Nope! Hot poker up the … er… rectum!" Of course, this weirded my friends out, but a simple Google search turned up this theory.

Maybe Ghost Hunters International should use Wikipedia more often. Better than getting a simple fact wrong… cough… Henry II?

By the way, speaking of that, I was a Youtubin', came across this video…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..mp;index=2

It's an older video, from the first season of GHI, but its pretty funny.  I want to go through and fact check HIS fact checking, but for the few things I've checked, he seems to be right.

and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!

Thanks for the link Milli. And Nosfer, you're right.I have never heard  or read anywhere about Isabella's ghost taking the form of a wolf.I personally think that was an embellishment on their part, because she was known as the She Wolf of France. I've seen Becket a few times over the years, and The Lion in Winter also, both on tv.

Seen Braveheart too, but don't think I've watched all of it.

Nice episode. So, I guess I should've seen this coming, but apparently Norman Fahy, the "historian" that showed GHI around the castle, now offers ghost tours of the place: http://www.normanfahy.com/page3.htm

Yup, although the tours and such predate this episode.  Castle Rising has had "events" for about three years.

"Photos from the very first event held at Castle Rising Castle, Friday 13th June 2008."

Click here http://www.mystic-worlds.co.uk…..830%29.htm if you want to see a buncha orbs Laugh

There's orbs on their faces so we can't see them too. I suppose if I was in a photo where people were hyping up orb photos I wouldn't want to be identified either.

LOL, that's true, Learjet.

Speaking of orbs, during the reveal, when they showed Norman that video where the door opens a few inches, before they say anything you can see those dust particles rapidly passing by the camera, and I was like "If they freak out about all of these 'orbs' I'll stop watching now!".

Thank goodness it was about the door.
