You know, I thought this site was for people's opinions but then my 20 year old son clued me in on the fact that bloggers get down and dirty with it and are mean spirited…Seriously, I had no idea.  Everyone has an opinion and it should  be treated with respect but alas, I guess that is too much to ask.  And yes, I am the one who thinks Giorgio Tsoukalos(from Ancient Aliens) is just an eccentric guy who is way more interesting than most people…so sue me.  You guys are way too serious.  Don't  bother replying, I won't be reading your site again.

Hmmm…I thought my response to Whitey08 was funny.  After all, for long-time readers at SV, it's the only 4,384th time that someone needs to explain to us that television shows are meant for entertainment.  Most people here at SV are relatively bright and observant and have figured that out quite a while ago.  So…I like to answer the "you guys don't get that TV is for fun" type of posts in a variety of ways.  You know, to break up the boredom and the banalityof those type of posts.  So I get both the "mean-spirited" and the "you guys are way too serious" comments?  If I'm being mean-spirited in the effort to be funny…am I still being way too serious? And if I'm way too serious…would I even bother with the paranormal in the first place?  Hmmm…so many questions…and…why is it that people who don't register here never quite get sarcasm?  Odd, right?

As for Giorgio just being a funny, little man…that is being addressed in that particular thread.  (I also see that you have made no rebuttal in that thread to support your view…)

And lastly….am I the only who who LOVES the "don't bother replying, I'm never coming back" type of comment?  I can't help it, but it always makes me laugh.  It's like a customer at a store going all crazy and then shouting out "I'm never shopping here again!"  Like any employee at that store shouts out "No!  Wait!  We really want you to come back and shop here again!"  Yeah…that happens… Laugh

I find sv interesting the more i read it. I served 3yrs 9months on the uss lexington in the 70's and i for sure heard and seen things that startled me.Other shipmates also experienced unexplained noises and sightings, but with the history of the ship,i can understand why and what goes on.

Let's keep this thread on track discussing this particular GHI episode.  If people have other events to discuss that took place elsewhere, please post them in a more appropriate topic.

I'd love to hear about whitey's experiences-in the right place of course!  There are so many stories coming from people stationed on these ships; seems something must be going on.

But getting back to GHI, on this episode I felt that Barry was loosening up a bit.  Last week, at least to me, he appeared to not be "with it" and just going through the motions, but this episode he just seemed a bit happier.

I was especially interested because my ancestors came from Poland.  But I thought the whole witch thing was pretty lame.   To be honest, I've found Polish people very reluctant to talk about anything paranormal.  In my family, ghosts were never mentioned; neither were witches.  My grandparents never spoke of anything ghostly associated with the "old country".  Maybe that's why my own experiences were greeted with such skepticism.  It's just not in the nature of the Polish to talk about such things.  Their host for this part of the show seemed pretty indifferent about the whole affair.

There seem to be some inviting places to explore in Poland.  Anyone else curious about Polish hauntings might want to visit this blog:

This guy talks about the witch in a much more interesting way (he calls her "Poland's Blair Witch").  Shame she was punished for a crime that she had nothing to do with and that was linked to political upheavals.

Still don't know what to make of the new lineup.  I miss Rob even though he somehow was not able to click with most of the audience.  GHI would really benefit from having a more stable cast and more use of the language of the country in question, though it seems they are making efforts in that direction.

I found Robb and Brandy rather bland….although they may not have had the producers' support in showing what they were actually doing in terms of valid investigations.  They did seem to be very earnest and serious about the investigations and Brandy was the least "mediumistic" of the women.  Which is to say, I don't remember her ever pulling the "I feel that something is going on here"…in retrospect I feel bad for not liking her more.

I think the show has fallen between the shakey stools of "non-compelling participants" and "ersatz paranormal activity".  Although DT runs the risk of falling into highly programed predictable patterns, Josh actually seems somewhat in charge and uses humour to signal his frustration with what must be annoying directives from above.  He also, whatever the silliness the investigation entails, usually ends with a pretty reasonable conclusion.

GHI does need a stronger, more credible team; someone familiar with whatever language is probable on an EVP (although they may be improving here); and, either very strong technical strategies that are explained to the audience, or a strong personality at the helm to hold it all together…preferably both.
