Although I haven't watched the entire episode yet, here's the Castle's website complete with ongoing renovation photographs. I will say, given the wild claims of activity ( ) I got the impression this was more of the same old, same old. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz….

alicat-you hit it on the head. ZZZZZZZ…..
Interesting castle, great historical background, and GHI manages to put me to sleep.
This show had potential when they maintained the same cast, including Andy who was an excellent debunker. IMO that is what got him bumped out of GH–Jason was jealous of Andy's superb debunking skills.
But I digress. This was even more of a snooze fest than usual. Logisti's going to have a hard time with last night's show, that's for sure!

Another week, another show, another castle.
Bump, creak, squeak.
Yeah, it's haunted, next castle.
Next week's show is a retirement home for priests.
Ghost priests?
I thought that when they die that, ummm, they went, like, somewhere else.

I think it was more that Jason was afraid of Andy's skills -
Wondering why Ashely asks " do you want a friend, someone to talk to ?", gets what could be interpreted as a positive response … and follows it up with " Tell you what Bianca – I'm gonna leave now"

My favorite part was when Ashley exclaimed with great enthusiasm while recanting the story to the group "The EMF meter was going crazy!" Um…yeah…it didn't even reach 1.0 mG. I guess her interpretation of an EMF meter going crazy and my interpretation are somewhat different.
I also loved when she explained that there was nothing in the room that could have given an EMF reading since it was essentially made of stone and only had a couple of wooden benches. She would be correct. Well, except for her mic and her walkie-talkie. And the camera guy's camera and battery pack and whatever else he would have on him. And if there was a sound guy in the room as well and whatever he would be carrying. But besides all of that gear that definitely gives off EMF readings…yes, the room was void of any possible and rational explanations for an EMF meter going off.
Isn't she supposed to be some sort of environmental scientist or something? Where did she get her degree, clown school?

Well, with that "hat" she had, you could be right!
Once again an episode showcasing the tried-and-true method of getting to the bottom of things "If you want us to leave, you have to do such and such" Appeasement of spirits rather than trying to determine if they exist in the first place. I assume the verdict was haunted? I did not get that far!

Nothing happened and they said it was haunted?!?!
Honestly, NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!! How on earth do they claim any credibility? I bet even fans cringed at that one (ok…maybe not).
At least on other episodes things happened, even if we can come up with other explanations. This time… NOTHING, but it is haunted.

You would be correct Nosfer, nothing happened. The one glaring thing I did notice was how Brandy has been significantly left out in the cold. The new eye candy and dumber than a brick (sorry brick) Ashley, has had more face time than Brandy. If she wasn't reading her script or at the analysis, you'd hardly know she's there. Also, GH seems to show a lot more of the equipment set up than GHI.
Another point is, they are going to castles and medieval buildings where goals, dungeons and torture rooms were commonplace. Why, after visiting all these places, are they so surprised and shocked by this? It's truly beyond me.

Well, I am thankful we didn't have to see a full shot of Barry with his shirt off in the bedroom scene.
Can't say this about GH, yet, but why does GHI go to such lengths to conceal the wireless mics that they use.
I'm speaking primarily of the guys, the girls have other apparel to clip theirs too.
They all wear clothes(t-shirts)that are much to large for them or they're always wearing jackets.
If you notice on the guys there is a small bump right under the collar, sometimes it's obvious, other times not.
Could be taped to their shirts or taped to their bodies.
Sometimes you can see the outline of the transmitter at their waist under their baggy shirts.
Rear shots of the GHI gang are not all that common.
Wireless mics are low wattage, they can be blocked by the human body.
If you've ever been to a concert you have probably seen at the ends of the stage and maybe to the rear, a pole with square black panels.
They are there to provide 360 coverage of the wireless mic signal as the performer dances or whatever on the stage.
These are the receiving antennas that pick up the wireless mic signals and sends them to the soundman at the mixer so he can make adjustments.
Okay, where am I going with this.
When Ashley is in the dungeon she gets her first response with the emf meter as she speaks and is turning her back to the meter.
She then has two more responses as she is facing the meter, however these could have been looped in the scene at editing.
These two were also long shots with no shot of the face of the meter, just the clicking sound.
She gets a fourth signal on the meter as she once again turns her back to the meter as she speaks.
See where I'm going with this, I hope.
It's late, I'm tired and I'm going to bed.
To be continued…maybe.

A good point, and since this is their job you would expect them to be less in awe of the suroundings.
Somewhat in their defense, when I visit these types of places I enjoy analysing them from an architectural aspect, but also to take some time and place myself in what I imagine to be the mindset of the inhabitants of the era. Most anyone visiiting the castle would be impressed, and people seeing the dungeon for the first ( & last ) time would be shocked.
I totally agree with sending Ashley in alone, and would think it could have been much better in this case if they sent in Brandy also with handicams and left out the production crew. ( ala Ghost Adventures )
Better for the investigation AND the TV show.

If they are using the same system as GH uses, they get at least 100ft or so – early on they had a problem getting a signal from inside an iron lighthouse back to control in another building.
I suspect that concerts are run at ultra low power so the signal cannot be hacked and sold. The square black panels suggest something akin to Bluetooth flea powered transmitters.

Somewhere in Las Vegas, in a lonely hotel room, Zak Bagans awakes screaming from his dreams of the Succubus that is still haunting him from the Ram's Inn. Drenched in sweat and unable to sleep, he turns on his laptop, goes to his favorite website (the Skeptical Viewer) and reads The Doctor's post.
He smiles and almost in a whisper he says "Finally…someone is appreciating my contribution to the paranormal."
Suddenly, a noise comes from the door. Zak leaps to his feet and fumbles for his EMF meter. It reads a whopping 0.3 mG. There is paranormal activity happening for sure he thinks. He drops the meter, reaches into his black bag and pulls out his Beretta. Another noise from the door. Zak fires five times at the door in sheer fright. An even larger noise comes. Zak empties the clip into the door…and all is silent.
He creeps towards the door and opens it just a crack. Just enough to see the cleaning lady lying on the floor, the towels that he had called about soaking the blood from the carpet. He quietly shuts the door, throws his laptop into his black bag and makes his way out the window and down the fire-escape.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…

LOL -
But surely in any legitimate Paranormal research, you don't think that sending in an investigator with minimal outside influence is not better then sending in someone pretending to be alone for the TV cameras ?

Well…I'm not comfortable with the word "legitimate" when it pertains to the paranormal research that we're seeing on any of the current TV shows. With that being said, I actually prefer them to be pretending. It's much funnier that way.
Case in point is what I described about Ashley and her keen observations about that room. I don't think I laugh that hard when I watch comedy shows. It's good stuff. And they all do it too.
You know…thinking about it, one of their best and most controversial pieces of evidence included the crew following them around. The one where the soundman's bag supposedly "flew" up into his face and he hit the deck (can't remember the name of the episode). So in that instance…a crew is following them. In every other instance, they pretend that they are alone. I find it highly amusing.
And speaking of highly amusing…does anyone else think that Joe Chin and Ashley have some sort of bet as to who can produce the most personal and unverifiable experiences? What's the score so far this season? 214 to 213?

214? He has 214? Geez, did I miss another one???
I do find the humor in these shows…like where Robb will talk about how amazing the evidence was (too bad it all got trimmed in favor the non-evidence shots) Those are the rib-tickling moments I'm sure we all love!

The unintentional comedy factor is the only reason I watch GHI.
The narratives on the drives are all the same with just a few words changed: Brandy: we are going to ____ castle – it was built in ____ – there are reports of strange noises, shadows, ……..
Reveals are all the same: 4 or 5 personal experiences related to the client getting them all excited only to be told they are just stories but we do have this amazing EVP – listen "zalskenasleeaoe" – client has a blank look – Robb then says listen again as Barry thought it was "I like the bald one" in an obscure mid-eastern European language not spoken in over 3000 years – loop it a few times and the client nodding saying yes I hear it – Robb saying this place has ghosts.
The people are priceless: Barry being Barry and Joe being Joe make for some good laughs each week. It's an added bonus when they investigate together. Ashley being scared out of her mind of the dark and always being touched almost every investigation, great career choice she made. Dustin and his visor and gell. Robb the true leader of this pack.
GHI really should be on the Comedy Station.
