Hey Guys, its great to see people discussing this photo and I can certainly understand how you would come to the idea that I was pretty close to the step but in fact thats just how that particular scene was edited, in fact when I was taking these photos Barry was inside the building snapping more photographs. I was actually a good distance from the steps. When analyzing the photo ourselves based on the information we had we estimated the girl to be roughly 3.5ft maybe 4ft obviously it is difficult to be 100% especially when we are as you rightly said attempting to remain skeptical and more importantly unbias. The image of the Ghost Girl only appeared the once in a series of more than 10 photos.
It certainly is nice to get something like this, and I wont lie, I was very excited to see it. Especially as this was one of the reports. However with anything you have to take a step back, calm down and look at alternatives. It is of my personal opinion that we have caught something very interesting in this photo and that it is not a case of matrixing. What it is I cannot say 100%, I know what it looks like and I know what others in the team think it looks like and we all came to the same conclusion. With that said none of us claim to be professionals.
Heres an extract from my Forum:
Ive been using the FS Illuminator for sometime and this was the first time I got a result from using it, so can I say that its because of the FSI that we caught this image or was it just luck? Would I have still caught the image without the use of the FSI, using just the flash or using Nightshot? I dont know, What was it about the FSI that allowed me to see the image these are all questions that require more experimentation.
I think Im still somewhat critical…
