Since J&G created GHI (so the story on TV goes and seems now to be the partyline now that the show is doing alright) then J&G are in overall charge of it, Robb is under them and accepts who they give him…

Wonder why Susan hasn't gone all empathetic on us again…nothing at Eastern State? Wow, must have been off her game. Since Heathyr was booted and it was clear that mediumship isn't the best way to get onto GH/GHI, I wonder if the patheticness (sorry, empatheticness) will every rear its head again?

I completely understand that. But, there's a time to stand up. Jason respects strength and rejects weakness. Steve has a strong personality so he's accepted. Brian had a weak personality and got booted. It isn't some great mystery. Robb needs to stand up and demand a little control. And…he does have a little juice.
GHI has turned over more team members than I care to remember. Yet, the show still pulls numbers. Granted, not rock-star numbers, but it's still worthy of a time slot. Robb leads that team. You can debate all day long whether he's good at it or not, but really, it doesn't matter. The show is at the point where they can't lose Robb. He's the foundation. You just can't replace him at this point. Given that…like I said, he's got some juice.
Also, you just can't throw anyone on this GHI team. We've seen that and it doesn't work. The travel is brutal. You need a certain personality type that can take trudging from airport to airport. To eat weird food. To get along and find your way while in a non-English speaking country. This is why Robb must have a say.
So all I'm saying, I'm disappointed that he isn't involved in the process (or at least seen…) if it is indeed true that some of these people may be on GHI.

Great point. I think we will see it, but much more toned down. She's seen that straight out mediumship won't fly. However, in small doses, ala Donna (always the "murky sensitive"), it may still work out. Will we see it in GHA? Doubtful. If she's gets a gig either on GH or GHI…then I think so, but more in the line of Donna rather than Heathyr. And…if she does make one of the shows, I'll even go so far as to place some money on her getting a "mysterious illness" due to "psychic vibes" at least twice in her first season.

Well we had Brandy, Mandy, Candy, and Wilma on GHI…or whoever the heck they were, I can't even remember their names they made such an impression :) I wonder if the angle is to get someone more stable, or if it's just to have another Investigator du Season? They HAVE apparently just thrown anyone on the GHI team. No, it didn't really work, but it hasn't stopped them from doing it and like Rev says, it hasn't tanked the ratings numbers.
Musings…IS Robb really the cement that holds GHI together? If they came up with a convenient illness for him and had him replaced by some other non-blinker, or even someone with a bit more personality, would it kill the show? As long as you don't replace EVERYONE at once, I wonder if it's really that much of a problem.
Jason respects strength, but only strength that agrees with him. Steve is fine because he kow tows with the best of them. BUT, look how long someone like Brian Bell lasted? So too much strength or strength counter to the will of the Jason is not going to go over well.
As for Susan, we probably won't see anymore pathetic outbursts until and unless her position is secured further up the ranks on one of the other shows. Then it may poke through now and then.

Like it or not, I believe that Robb IS the leader of that group. I think he is the foundation. Now, with that being said, I also do not believe that he is very charismatic. That's not really a knock against him. I mean, few people truly are. But you can augment this by adding colorful characters to the cast. And ones that actually stay on the show so fans can get to know them would also be helpful.
From the current talent pool over at GHA, I don't see those people adding any much needed personality to the GHI team. However, if they can find someone who will just stay with the team over the long run, that would be handy as well.
At this point, there's a great deal to say on GHI and that team of theirs and what they should do, but this really isn't the thread for it. Maybe when GHI starts up again, we'll revisit this issue.

Question- I thought the bucket noise was debunked as a window. If so, why did they list it as a paranormal claim?

Gwenwhyfar asked: "Question- I thought the bucket noise was debunked as a window. If so, why did they list it as a paranormal claim?"
I have to admit, I raised my eyebrow a bit when I saw that as well. But to be fair, they did do the right thing. When one "debunks" anothers' undocumented experience, all one can do is theorize possible and quite natural reasons as opposed to something of a paranormal nature. So although the wind banging the window "may" explain the sound, there is no evidence that that was indeed the sound being heard. And since there is virtually no way to prove or disprove an undocumented personal experience, the mysterious "bucket noise" is still listed as a possible paranormal event.
To also be fair, the show should have done a much better job in explaining that aspect as I'm sure many people were asking themselves the same question…

@ Revenant I was wondering about the bucket incident also. Thanks so much for the explanation as I really understand now why Stango still mentioned the bucket to them. Though I agree with you, they should have explained it.

I don't know if I can really get behind that statement about Robb, Rev. He's got all the charm and personality of a used kleenex. I'm not saying anyone else that is currently on the team has the makings of a good leader either, and unfortunately that's what's lacking in the GHI camp. Strong team leadership. I think the only reason the show is still on, despite the poor leadership, is a) it's under the GH umbrella, which has a huge cult following and b) a lot of people watch for the locations; it's almost become an international paranormal travel guide.

I know that I'm probably the only one who thought that Steve seemed to have gotten over his fear of heights this time around. He didn't complain or act worried at all when he was trying to find out what was wrong with Chris. He also went straight up to the top without asking someone to walk behind him.I just found that weird because he is usually making it known that he has many phobias.I guess being in charge of the newbies is more important than his panic attacks.

Hmmm…well, I'll debate their evidence, their investigatory methods and even their motive behind certain things…but as for Steve's phobia's…I'm just going to give it to him. I don't see a possible benefit in him being dishonest about it.
Also, we do not know if things were edited in a particular way. We also do not know if Steve has been seeking any sort of treatment for his assorted irrational fears. Perhaps it may have been as simple as a certain medication or psychological technique that was temporarily helping him.
In any event, I wouldn't look too much into that particular instance and try to garner any relevant information from it. Unless…you're stating that this is evidence that Steve has been lying about his phobia's for years. Which I would simply disagree with based upon the mountain of evidence that points to Steve having legimate irrational fear of multiple things. He's just not a good enough actor to fake the fear that he has shown in the past while confronting spiders, airplanes, heights, or whatever else…

I bought Steve's flying phobia when it was first introduced….sympathized with it even, but….especially from the 3rd season on (when there was no excuse for the show to be strapped for any amount of cash), I found it more than a little weird the the whole team would so happily drive from Rhode Island to California rather than fly there _just_ for Steve's irrational phobia.
Maybe he drove there and the rest flew and just waited for him to show up for…..god, that's almost 4 days of driving to get from coast to coast, isn't it? Correct me if I'm off by any appreciable amount, there…I've never made the drive myself.
Obviously, there's some whoopie being made of the truth there….maybe minor, maybe major…..but it's just such a collossal expenditure of the whole "team's" time and likely some of the network's money to cater to one guy's oddball phobias and kinks. On the other hand, maybe Steve is an excuse for spending the first day or two of a given out of state venture relaxing at the beach…while they wait for Steve's van to hoof it across North America….and an excuse to run up a big room service bill on someone else's tab….. Yeah, I'd do it too, given the same situation.
This is why I miss Brian Harnois and Andy Andrews….sure they were annoying as hell, but at least they weren't boring. : P

Steve's fears and phobias have been discussed on many threads here and I believe them to be legitimate myself.
As far as his driving to sites and others flying, it has been well established and acknowledged by members of GH/TAPS that only Jason and Grant fly to locations or, in the case of some NJ/NY City trips, take the train. On almost every investigation (except the West Coast) the cast and crew drive, not fly. J&G are picked up at the airport and the scenes are filmed of them driving once they depart to the location.

In addition, in one of the episodes rerun this week (first week June 2010) Steve's act of acting like the bugs didn't bug him (how's that for double word play) when Tango was getting all weirded out…Steve's act seemed just like that, an act, as contrasted to what appears to be genuine freakout that we normally see.

Tango getting weirded out by bugs and Steve acting like he's not ?
Wonder how that fits with the TAPS quality of composure …

Ya know…I don't think we've seen these qualities enumerated until this latest set of episodes for GHA…kinda suspicious. Just like the "tagging" I don't think we saw that until the first class, and then after that, we see the GH folks doing it. It's almost like they are making stuff up as they go along.
And really there's nothing wrong with that, it's adapting to what you learn. It's the evolution of technique. So I really have no problem with that except for the fact that they try to pass it off as something they have done all the time. That just doesn't appear to be the case from what I've seen having watched the earlier seasons of GH/GHI.
