When I was over on the TAPS 18 board, I thought under GH Academy, someone asked if the show has been cancelled.I'll have to search the net to see if there is anything to this. I thought the whole idea was kind of silly, though maybe the premise might have worked. Maybe it would have worked with different investigators as teachers, like Troy Taylor instead of Stango.

What? You want Jason and Grant to acknowledge that there are other "experts" in the THEIR field? What? When have you ever seen or heard them do that in any episode? "People say…" "There's a theory…" There is never direct acknowledgement. No way, no how are J&G letting in some "outsider" teach people THEIR way of doing things. THEY know best. THEY are THE experts. THEY created everything in the paranormal field. THEY are the OMEGA. The beginning and the end. All worship Jason and Grant….
So…um…no. That won't happen.

Far as I know, it's gone. Not renewed when SciFi put out the list of great show renewals.
Funny, though, how they don't always put into practice that which was taught. No Lone-Investigators, no splitting up. I had a nickel for everytime Amy and Kris split up or Jason and Grant did, I've have a bunch of nickels!

You know, speaking of Troy Taylor…I had the good fortune of communicating with him several times via email. He seems to be a very intelligent and polite guy. And although we may have a very different view of the world (and beyond), everything was quite civil. And really…civility goes a long way. Can't ask for more than that.
As to why I contacted him…that was Stephen's fault. A long, long time ago, Stephen mentioned in either a post or a podcast something about EMF meters and who began to use them first. I was writing a few articles for SV at the time so I thought it would be a great topic, an historical look at some of the better known theories or practices of ghost-hunting.
So we spoke of EMF's, the meters, and how they could have possibly got connected to ghost-hunting. Unfortunately, at the time, Mr Taylor didn't know who actually first began using the modern EMF meters at haunted locations. It was like the iPod. One day, no one knows what they are. The next day, my grandmother is asking me how to upload Benny Goodman to her "iPodge (still not quite clear on where she got that one from…)."
Ok…so there you go…my brush with a real paranormal investigator…

I think a survivor like training school is very bad for teaching cooperation within a team. Since there can be only one winner, one has to always be on the lookout for someone that is more than willing to stab you in the back. I think Adam even mentioned this on his first GH appearance.
The show was ridiculous anyway and basically taught the students nothing of any value in the technical department.

Wait a second… "nothing of any value in the technical department"?? Didn't they teach them how to setup the flashlight trick? That was technical…
